For a girl, I most hate Brielle and Nevaeh.
Oh, and anything that's spelled youneek.
And boys' names on girls, like Elliot.

Yes. I cannot stand this. I know of three people from my facebook who have had girls within the past month. All named boys names. Spencer, Logan, and Dylan. Horrible.

I know I'm going to be in the minority on this one (maybe I should save it for a Thursday UO instead), but I am sick of "Grace" and "Rose" in the middle name spot for girls (unless used for a namesake). Both are beautiful names, but I think they are too played out now and will be very dated in a few years' time. I see them as today's "Ann" or "Marie."

"Special" spellings of names, it annoys me, just give your kid the name it was meant to be dammit. Most people do it thinking it won't be as common, for instance my cousin named his daughter Morgyn because they didn't know anyone who spells it that way and it makes it special, well guess nothing "special" about it, it's still pronounced the same no matter how you cut and dry it!
Like a pp said, there are certain names I can't help but associate with people I can't stand, so I don't like those names either.

There are some names that I do not like because the people that are not my fav have them. I kind of live by the "to eachs own", but Sometimes really off the wall names I think to myself that is going to suck for that kid. You hope the kid does not get made fun of. I get though that there is meaning behind them, but names like Apple, or some real ghetto names.I am like really?

ETA: Cars too, I will immediately judge you if you name your daughter Lexus.
My mom is an LD resource teacher for two sisters named Lexus and Mercedes. True story. Their brother's name is Ralph, lol.
Poor kids! That's just sad.
My sister's good friend named her daughter Patience. The reason. Because they were married five years and they had to be "patient". They weren't trying and they were actually separated when she found out she was pregnant with her.
I also don't like Regan/Reagan because of The Exorcist, lol.
How is this name pronounced? I always see it on here and I don't like it because I can't figure out how the heck it is supposed to be said.

Names that are spelled "special" to make the child unique. I'm also not a huge fan of days of the week names(Sunday, Friday etc)
Me too. Before I became a SAHM I was a 6th grade teacher, so I saw a lot of names, and you-neek spellings don't make your child stand out, they make them seem low class.
Personally, I really don't like the "old" names that are becoming so popular. I used to voluteer in a nursing home, so anytime I see the names I think of the patients. Mabel, Evelyn, Maxine, Vera, etc. I also don't care for "T" names for girls.(except my own ). Tabitha, Tallulah, Theodora, Theresa. Just not a fan.
In general, I love old-fashioned/traditional names and hate invented/youneek names.
I also hate it when a kid gets a name that's really a nickname, instead of a real name - for example, officially naming your kid Callie instead of naming your kid Callista or Caroline or Calliope or whatever Callie is actually short for. I feel bad for the kid because they're going to grow up one day and have a name that sounds like a perpetual five-year-old.

I always try and keep my comments & judgements to myself when people pick out names, different strokes for different folks.
But this is the interwebz so things I would refrain from are....
- "you-neek" spelling's - uber common/popular names (while I love Emma, it will never be on my list of potentials) - girls with boys names - celebrity names (ie. apple, cocoa, Fifi Trixiebelle)
I know a set of twin boys named: Storm and Steel. Seriously.

Any name that is extremely trendy or misspelled. Changing the spelling of a trendy name does not make it sound any different out loud. Plus, I know this is judgy, but when I see a youneek name it just makes me think the parents are either uneducated or really young.
