For those who have purchased crib bedding...

If crib bumpers came with it, will you be using them?

I am just learning about the suffocation concerns now.  The sets that we bought both come with the bumpers and I think they are quite cute.  Maybe I will take them out when they are born and put them in when they are older?

Just wondering what others think...

    I haven't bought anything yet, but we will not be using bumpers. We will be extremely cautious though...my best friend's niece recently passed away due to sids at 3 months, so the fear is very raw still.
    2/11 Diagnosis: DOR-AMH .62, LPD and MFI-4% Morph
    IVF #1-July 2011 7/9/11-Started Stims
    7/20/11-ER:No eggs in 4/5 follicles. Left the 5th follie intact and converted to an IUI
    8/3/11-Beta #1=BFN,
    Nov, 2011 BFP #1=m/c at 7 wks 3 days
    11/11-AMH .47, IVF #2 March 2012...or not!! Surprise BFP on 2/19. Beta #1=161. Beta #2 305 Our little miracle girl is on her way! Due Oct 29, 2012

    There are breathable crib bumpers. Baby bargains says not to use the other kind because they are too dangerous.

    Thanks. It's one of those things that no family should have to go through; so impossible to comprehend. We've already decided we will be spending the money on one of the mattress sensor pads that detects movement, or lack thereof.

    We specifically chose a set with no bumpers. We will not be using them at all. The AAP doesn't even recommend the breathable ones at this time. We will revisit that later if needed.

    We are still looking, but I agree wholeheartedly with this.

    I'm making my crib bedding and coordinating nursery linens but definitely no bumpers. 

    Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

    My MIL is making sheets for us because we weren't planning on using bumpers anyway, so a set seemed like a waste.  Also, we're using mini-cribs, so bedding is a little harder to find.

    We didn't buy a bedding set, we just bought the pieces separately. We didn't buy the bumpers. I saw too many warnings and am not willing to take the risk. Also, my cousin told me it's a pain in the butt to take the bumpers in and out every time the baby throws up or has a diaper explosion and needs the sheets changed!

    D&E - Bled out. Blood transfusions. Week in ICU - Cheated Death!

    We kept it aside until she was 8 months old.  Will do that again.

    We didn't even buy a bedding set for two reasons 1) I couldn't find anything I liked and 2) I didn't want to buy a bumper for the crib due to the SIDS risk. I just have to let my MIL know that baby can't sleep with the bumpers in the mini crib that she bought for her house.
