I'm almost 22 weeks with my twins and for the past few days, a cold has hit me pretty hard. Normally, I'm not one to turn to medicine for a cold - I usually just let it run its course, but of course my MIL had to tell me yesterday that when she was pregnant with my husband, she got a cold and it developed into bronchitis, so now I'm scared to just let my immune system try to fight off this cold. My OB gave me a list of approved medicines so I'm thinking about trying one of those, but I also have diabetes and medicines that aren't sugar-free are going to make my numbers crazy (as if the cold hasn't already done enough of that!). Does anybody have any pregnancy-safe cold remedies they swear by?
Re: Cold Remedies During Pregnancy?
This was exactly what happened to me. Beginning of 2nd tri and all. I also only took it once or twice, but it helped me enough to get a little bit of sleep which my OB reasoned would be more helpful to getting better. I worried about it a little, but in the end was hacking coughing so much that I had to take it. Hope you feel better!

Anything on your safe list is fine to take. However, these are just to treat the symptoms of a cold. They will not prevent it from progressing to a bacterial infection. You need a lot of rest and fluids to keep you immune system up.
Some natural remedies are steam for nasal congestion, honey for a cough, salt water gargle for a sore throat, saline nasal spray for nasal congestion
