Tips for keeping play sand clean

I got out the old sand table yesterday. Last summer, I kept it covered, put cinnamin in the sand (found that "tip online), and still got invaded with bugs. Any tips for keeping it critter free? Thanks

    Hmmmm.  Aside from covering it, I'm not sure how to keep bugs out.  As far as cleaning out debris, though, a large slotted spoon works really well.

    Ick, that would creep me out! I don't have any tips really....we kept ours on the deck last summer, covered, and never had a problem.

    We are surrounded by woods and this year I moved the sandbox to the patio right on the edge of the woods. Now you have me worried that we'll get bugs!

    We do have Terminex come spray 4xs a year around the perimeter of the house. That might help too..?

    I thought I read something about putting salt in sandboxes once. Maybe Google that because I don't remember anything else about it. Sorry.
