Trying to Get Pregnant

NTTGP: Anyone had a breast reduction?

It's something I'm thinking about and I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this.  How did you feel about it afterwards?  I'm terrified to have any type of surgery, but the more that I can't fit in to things because of my chest, the more I just want to get it over with.

Re: NTTGP: Anyone had a breast reduction?

  • I don't have any advice,But I am also very big chested (FF) and I am also considering a Breast reduction. I am beginning to get back problems and would like to loose a little weight first.

Very interested in seeing responses to this. Good luck

But I wanted to answer your question.  I had one about 12 years ago now and it was seriously the best decision I think I've ever made for myself.  I was to the point where I couldn't fit into the clothes at a regular store just because of my chest, or I'd have to buy something 4 sizes bigger just to get my boobs in there!  I wasn't a big girl either, 5'6", 130lbs, so for me shopping was always a horrible experience.  Dresses? Forget it!

Recovery wasn't easy. There was definitely a full month of someone else washing and drying my hair, and just being in pain, no driving, etc..  Again, though, for me it was totally worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

  • This is on my post-breast feeding bucket list!  Shrink & lift!  DH said he'd go for it as long as I don't shrink too much.... I think he'd rather I just lift :)

  • I plan to have one some day (I'm a J), but not until I'm positive that I'm done having kids.  Your milk ducts are damaged in the process and it makes exclusive breastfeeding very difficult.  Most women that have had a reduction either can't nurse at all, or have to supplement.

  • Thanks for the responses so far.  Everyone that I've talked to so far has basically said it was the best decision ever and they don't regret it one bit.  I'm just such a big baby and TERRIFIED of the pain.

I'm only a DD, maybe a DDD..one is bigger than the other.  I've been thinking about it for a while, but going Easter dress shopping today and not being able to fit into anything because of my chest really brought it back up.  I could've easily fit into some of those dresses if it wasn't for the size of my chest!!  So frustrating!

My DH is 100% on board because he also thinks they're too big and sees how upset I get.  I hate to run because it's painful.  I was just telling him though that I would want to wait until after having at least 1 child so I could breast feed.  I'll start doing my research now :)  Thanks ladies!

  • I had one in December 2003 and it was great.  I was able to breastfeed with no issues and my new smaller boobs (34DD) are amazing!

Recovery was a bit of a ***, however.

This is me EXACTLY. I want a reduction and a laser bra once I'm done with breastfeeding and DH said ok as long as there's not too much of a reduction.

This for me too.  I have been planning it for about 10 years now and can't wait until after this baby is finished breastfeeding.  I've always told my DH that I will get a reduction and he can get snipped :)

  • I was a DD before nursing DD.  When I was nursing I was a G cup.  That was a trick, they were like basketballs.   Good luck.
  • I just wanted to dd  to the wait until after kids if you want to breast feed.  I had a breast tumor removed, tmi alert (very small, but my areola was cut as a flap to "minimize" scarring) and I wasn't able to bf dd for more than a few weeks.
