TTC After a Loss

TTCAL isn't physically possible and is frustrating

It's been a couple weeks since my last post. I had a mc in early Feb and experienced bleeding for 3 1/2 weeks straight. My m/c was early (i was only 3ish weeks along) so it was natural. Because I had continuous bleeding I was not sure if my AF occurred and I wasn't aware. I went to the dr March 28. They took another preg test just to confirm that I wasn't preg since my last accounted AF was in Jan. Test was neg. Due to my P4 being extremely low when tested with m/c my dr prescribed me Provera to "manually start my AF" I took the 5 days worth of pills and was supposed to start by today. NOTHING! It's hard to TTCAL when I can't get AF! It's been 2 months since my m/c started and since it was an early m/c my dr said there is no reason I shouldn't have already had AF! Now I'm starting to worry something else is wrong! DH and I want to start trying and knowing that we physically can't is killing me!

Re: TTCAL isn't physically possible and is frustrating

  • Britny, I waited about 7 weeks for my AF before using birth control to start it, so I hear you. Maybe the Provera is just not the right thing for you. Call your doctor on Monday if there is still no AF and ask about other options. I am currently in a (most likely) anovulatory cycle on about CD40. I miscarried in August and have had few to no signs of ovulation since then. I know; it sucks. Just try your best to be present and to know that you are doing all you can do and everything else is out of your control. That isn't to say it's not irritating, because it most definitely is.

  • Thanks! I don't want to annoy my dr's nurse by calling every week but I'm paying them good money to take care of me! I was hoping someone would say call Monday! I called her this past Tues (April 3) which was the 1st day after taking my last pill. So it's only been 5 days since I finished what was prescribed to me. But she told me that I should start within a 10 day time frame from my first day on the med. It's just annoying not having my hormones regulated and feeling back to normal. I have been extremely moody the last couple of days and it's been humorous for the most part bc I know I have no control over it. My DH is being extremely supportive and is making sure I stay comfortable! I just want to be normal again!

Yes! You are! It's their job to help, and don't worry about annoying them. It sounds like the Provera might still work. I am sure it is possible to take a few days outside of that ten day window. Everyone is different. But, if you want to call Monday, call Monday. It's fine to ask questions; that is what they are there for.
