The plan is just DH. My mom (a L&D nurse) might be there for a second opinion if we feel we can't manage the doctors and nurses.
My mom's an L&D nurse too As long as I don't go early (she's flying from AZ 6 days before due date and staying for 2 weeks after), it'll be my mom and my H. My mom and I are pretty close and thankfully she's normally a calming influence and according to my SIL, is great labor coach! (My mom was her coach 3 weeks ago!)

So far definitely my DH. My Mom is a NP and used to work in L&D (20 year ago). I'm still trying to figure out if she'll be supportive of my natural birth or not. She had made a couple comments that make me worry so for now I think my plan is to have her there but warn her that she may get kicked out if she's not helping lol.
DH and best friend if she makes it in time. She hasn't had a baby yet and loves medical stuff . She's also close friends with MH, so he said it was okay with him.
Only DH. If you weren't there when LO was concieved, you won't be there when LO comes out.
My thoughts excatly! We're not calling anyone either until LO is born and I'm ready to have visitors. The only person who lives close that would come is my MIL and I have a feeling she would try to control things b/c she's a nurse (but not L&D) and I don't need her up my ass in the hopsital. She won't like it but will get over it.
my dh and mom and possibly my sister. And I don't want anyone in the waiting room, so we are hoping for a night time delivery, too.
also- only nurses and drs- absolutely NO medical students or interns. If you don't say that explicitly, and you deliver in a teaching hospital (which most are) you may be on a rotation with a gaggle of students and/or interns.
Horror story: My sister didn't explicitly say no students. A OB/GYN she didn't know came in to examine her with about 15 students. Dr. says she is going to examine her cervix for changes, and my sister, who had been left alone to rest (she had had an epidural and her DH had gone down the hall for a cup of coffee) was too tired and bewildered and cowed to say anything. The Dr. puts her in stirrups and opens her up with the duck-bill and then procedes to examine her. Dr. then steps back and lets every student take a look while the Dr. explains what they are looking at (duh, a cervix). Her DH walks back into the room with a Dr. giving a lecture on transistional labor, his wife spread-eagled and crying silently, and a bunch of 20 year old students taking notes and looking at his wife's lady bits. Her DH had a cow, and the Dr. explained that my sister gave consent. She gave consent to the Dr., but not the students, and besides, how can a woman who is drugged and exhausted give consent for anything?
oh my god, that's a horrible story!! Mental note - no students!! That's why I'm glad I hired a doula. If I'm out of it, she can step in and kibosh crap like that.

OMG! I know you need to say no students and I've always thought that I wouldn't mind a student or two but 15?? That's terrible
just DH... unless my mom gets there... and DH needs a break...but while pushing just DH...both our moms understand... when they had us it was just them and our dads... but I'm so thankful they are so open to talking about it too...
My H and my Mom. My H freaks out when I'm in pain (he was a mess when I had surgery while we were dating) and my Mom is pretty much the only person (aside from my H) who can calm me down when I'm anxious.
DH and I am so hoping my mom will make it too! She is flying in the day before I am due and staying for three weeks so if my LO cooperates she will wait so that her grams can be there for the delivery as well. If not, than just me and DH but other family members are not an option, though I wouldn't be opposed to having others there because I have a terrific awesome family! Wish everyone could be there!
Re: Just curious...who's going to be in the delivery room with you?
Just DH.
No need for anyone else to be there.
My mom's an L&D nurse too

Lol, this. I don't even want people in the waiting room. Actually hoping baby comes in the middle of the night so we can be left alone for a bit!!
DH and lots of med staff (having my 3rd c-section).
My mom will be waiting in the waiting room.
My 2 kids, Dad and stepmom will be at my house waiting for me to get out of recovery so they can come meet the new baby.
Not inviting guests until the next day or even the next day. I want to get my catheter out and get some rest first.

Husband, doula, nurse(s), doctor.
I don't even plan to call anyone other than the doula until the entire gig is up and she's here.

My mom... because hubs will be out of the country
I have no issues with students.
I am a nursing student myself and its a learning experience to make them great doctors/nurses.
But I don't side eye others who are not comfortable with it.
