DD will be 8 weeks Monday. My weight loss has totally stalled and I am looking to lose the rest of my baby weight. I have 19 lbs left to lose. I started working out but this just makes me hungrier! Is it safe to cut carbs? I did this before I got PG and lost a ton of weight. I know you have to be careful while BFing not to lose too much too soon ( thought I'm pretty sure I won't have that problem!).
Re: Is it safe to cut carbs while breastfeeding?
Just make sure you are getting 100% all of the nutrients you need - you might want to try weightwatchers, there's a program specifically for women. Basically any diet regimen you'd normally do, add 500 calories for BFing.
My suggestion would honestly be to just wait - my weight continued to go down down down down until around 6 months pp. Just eating healthy, exercising normally.
No one should cut out all carbs. Even diabetics needs carbs. You just have to choose the right ones. First try cutting out what I call junk carbs - chips, crackers, desserts, sugary drinks - and see how you react. Keep eating whole wheat bread, whole grains, brown rice, low fat milk, oatmeal, etc. You do need lots of energy to BF. It's exhausting.
For me when I cut out too much fat I can tell it in my breast milk. And I second PP, 1 month pp is too early to be real hard on yourself losing weight. It is good to remember that it took 40 weeks to gain it .
