DH is getting screwed over (long, sorry)
I am so frustrated right now! Not at DH, but at his company, and specifically his boss. I don't like her at all - and it is mostly because she keeps doing sh*t like this.
This being screwing DH over - again - on his pay. He is currently the second highest person in the organization, and is about to take over half the company so his current boss would become ranked equally.
But, for the time being, she still is higher than he is - and is screwing him around. He was promised a pay increase in AUGUST coinciding with his anniversary date with his company. This was also when he took on a huge amount of extra work and started working 60hr work weeks.
DH just called - apparently he is getting less than a 1% increase (not even keeping up with inflation!) and since the pay is supposed to be retroactive (coming in a lump sum), he no longer gets a bonus in April - like every other employee gets.
We had thought that since this had taken so long, and he is starting his promotion on the 15th, that he would get a much larger increase - to put him more in line with his new role/responsibilities. But - apparently not. She won't sit down and hammer out the details - like how much he will be making in his new role - so I just know that he is going to double his work load and responsibility and it will take another 8months for a change in salary.
She has these horrible ways of screwing people over - if he were to try and say that he should get 1 his raise, 2 his retroactive pay, and 3 his bonus - she would basically tell him that he wants too much and maybe he won't get anything at all.

That sucks. This is why I love working at a large company or in the government, so individual managers and directors can't get on crazy power trips. Raises, bonuses and promotions are all clearly documented ranges.
He could try contacting HR, but that could definitely backfire too. I guess he'll have to decide how long he puts up with it, before looking for greener pastures.
