So, not sure if anyone recalls but I had my baby! Almost two weeks ago my DH and I came to vegas for a quick 2 day, last "hurrah"! (were from canada). We walked up and down the strip the first day and I noticed I started having what I imagined to be "Braxton hicks" contractions. I'm a ftm and ofcourse have never experienced anything like it. It wasn't painful, but just slightly discomforting so I never thought anything about it. that night they seemed to get a bit more intense but again, after hearing what people said, I just thought my be the bh. Well by morning I had some blood in the toilet. We went to the hospital and I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced. so the next day, the day we were supposed to have flown back to Canada I delivered a baby boy, little Parker, born on a leap year (Feb 29), now a dual-citizen, weighing in at 1lb 15oz. He was 15 wks premature.
Definitely wasn't expecting any of this! He's quite the little trooper and has been doing fairly well. Fingers crossed, and lots of prayers he continues to do well, grows lots and hopefully in a month can be transported to Canada.
Ladies, if you are every unsure about what you are feeling, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately!
Re: unexpected...vegas baby!
No, silly, you're supposed to go to Vegas for spontaneous MARRIAGES, not births!
So are you stuck in Vegas for the duration? FX and TP, please share more details about how Parker's doing if you like!
Wow, so I guess you guys are stuck there for awhile in the NICU? Also, I really hope you had travel insurance for your trip down there!
It sounds like your LO is doing really well. Please keep us up to date on how he progresses. Take care!

What a story to tell baby when he's older! Hope he is doing well and getting bigger and stronger for his trip home! I am heading to Vegas myself on a week, and I'm sincerely hoping baby doesn't want to see the bright lights just yet.

Congrats! What a great story to tell when he's older. Love the name too!
Thanks so much everyone. Itwas definitely unexpected. We are very fortunate and are staying at least the Ronald McDonald House, what a lifesaver! Parker will remain in the NICU for at least a month before trying to transport him back to Canada. It definitely is hard being in another city, let alone another country. Fortunately my husband is here with me and work has been very supportive. Again thank you all, God bless and I hope all goes well with your pregnancies, I'll be on the preemie
board. *hugs*
Congrats on the birth of your boy! I will be praying that he grows strong quickly so you can return home soon.
And in this case, it won't be what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. He'll go home to Canada with an exciting birth story!
Oh wow! Had no idea that this thread was a birth story... am just so happy to hear that you both are doing well! Did the doctors say anything about what caused labor to start so early?
Congrats again!
Lots of luck to my Golden Girls

Wow what a story! I'm going to Mexico for my last hurrah in a couple weeks. I'm from Canada too-do you mind if I ask how much insurance you had and if it was enough?
Beautiful baby, thoughts are with Parker and his family!
