Re: CP - Shopping cart cover

  • I need to give it another go. I tried it once but it was a PIA to do one handed with the baby in the other. No i just sanitize and put him in...

  • Loading the player...
  • I've thought about using one...but we haven't had DD in the cart yet. What pp says about trying to put it on and hold DD at the same time could be a problem though..

  • I love ours, especially on high chairs. I use paci clips and it contains the toys/sippy cup.

Quick in and out trips no, either carrier or sanitize and go, but when I am doing my big weekend grocery trip I use it and love that I can attach toys to it for DD to play with when she is bored people watching.

I usually park next to a cart return and grab a cart from the cart return, put the cover on, and then get DD out of her car seat so that I don't have to put it on one handed.  You might want to try that because I agree it is definitely a PITA to put on one handed.

  • We have the Eddie Bauer one from Target it was about $17.  I really like it, I'm a germaphobe so it makes me feel better that there is a barrier between him and the cart, plus he seems much more secure and comfy.

  • I don't know that I would have bought one, but we had one handed down to us and have really liked it! The only thing I don't like is that it's hard to put the cart's seatbelt straps through the little slits on the cover. At some stores those straps are attached to the top bar on the back of the seat, and the straps are too short to go through the cover and around DD then... and she's only (almost) 9 months old!

Yes We got whatever brand ours is as a gift but it is super easy to use. I used to think they were so stupid but now I'm converted.

I will try again, I ususally try to park by a cart return anyways. I think the day I tried everything else was going wrong and it just added to my frustration. :-)

  • We got ours from Ross and I really like it. We also park next to the cart return and it's a whole lot easier than trying to use one hand, which I've only done once because it turned out that I grabbed a crappy cart so I switched it in the store. I'd rather park farther away than try to put it on in the store.

  • I have one and have a love-hate relationship with it.  I voted SS because some carts it works in, some the safety belt isn't long enough to thread through and still fit DS.

Great invention, but sometimes its more of a PITA than I want to deal with.

  • I use it and like it but DH does a lot of the grocery shopping now since he is a SAHD and I don't think he cares for it at all.  He wants the baby to get "germy" and develop his immune system.

  • We have one, but it is still in the box in his closet.  I keep meaning to get it and I always forget.

  • IMO, not worth the effort. We don't have one, and I feel no need to get one. To be honest, I don't even always sanitize the cart. Maybe I am a bad mom. We're probably just lucky, but he hasn't been sick yet. I think limited exposure to germs isn't always a bad thing.
