I'm embarrassed to even write this out, but I need advice and I have very few IRL friends to talk to.Ive suffered from minor depression for years. A few years before DH and I met it was so bad that I contemplated ending my own life. When we met, things seemed better and I slowly weaned myself off of my medication. Two months after we got married I got pregnant with DS. Although it was an unexpected surprise, I couldn't have been happier. Throughout my pregnancy things seemed to be going well and I didn't feel the need for my medication. When I had DS, it all changed. All of the feelings of worthlessness and depression came flooding back. At my 6 week PP checkup, I talked to my dr and she prescribed me the same medication I had been on before. I take it daily but it doesn't seem to be helping. Im at a complete loss right now. I'm lashing out at my husband, want nothing to do with anyone, refuse to leave my son for any amount of time for fear of something bad happening, and just feel all out of sorts. I think I have PPD. I love my son more than anything and would never harm him in any way, but I don't feel like I take good care of him right now. I either spend my day crying, laying in bed, or yelling at my husband over nothing. I'm embarrassed and scared and ashamed. I'm worried that if I tell anyone IRL, they will judge me. I'm also not sure what to do. Do I call my OB? Is it too late to be diagnosed with PPD?
