Opinion time... Am I over doing it?

I'm still working full time (42 hours/week give or take) and I'm walking about 20-30 minutes every day at lunch time. Plus, I've started walking at night with my fiance. We walk anywhere from 1- 2.5 miles at a time. My doctors haven't given me any restrictions and everything has checked out at all of my appointments. A L&D nurse just told me to check with my doctor because she thinks I may be over doing it. She isn't directly related with my care, but I guess she could know what she's talking about. Now I'm really curious... Thoughts?

  • In my opinion, you're definitely not overdoing it if your treating docs haven't told you to slow it down.  The babe won't come until he's ready and you're "full term" at this point, so if you're meant to walk him out, then more power to 'ya!

  • I told my doctor that I am feeling more tired in the evenings, but also that I haven't been restricting myself, either. I still go to an aerobics class once a week and do daily long walks. I haven't cut back on any of my housecleaning duties, either. My doctor said the best thing I can do for myself is to keep up with my routines and stay active as long as I feel able. So in my opinion, there is no harm in 'overdoing it' at this point in our pregnancies.

  • I'm no doctor, but if you haven't had any complications and your doctos haven't said stop then I think you're fine. Were you in L&D for a problem? if so, then it might be time to consult your doctors.

  • I don't think you're overdoing it. If you're still feeling ok, I don't see the problem. I'm still working 40-45 hours a week (doing 12 hour shifts) and am on my feet most of the day..walking most of the day. By the time I get home, I'm exhausted, but otherwise feeling fine. I think if everything checks out at your appointments and you're feeling fine, keep it up!
  • I don't think that's overdoing it all.  As long as you feel fine, don't worry about it.

  • As long as you aren't feeling exhausted and the baby doesn't have any decreased movements, then you should be fine. I was working out ~1-2 hrs/day until my bleeding episode at 35 weeks. I was only told to take it easy after that until I turned full term. Now, I am slowly getting back into exercising. DH and I take the dogs on a 1-2 mile walk in the evenings and I have been working out about 30 min-1 hr during the day.

  • Last time I worked 40 hours on my feet right up to the end, plus did 2-3 miles on the treadmill at night. No one said anything about cutting it back.

  • I agree with all the PP's. I spend my days cleaning/chasing 2 kids (and I still pick them up from time to time), running errands, and then I work at night, and coach their teeball a night a week and weekends. I've been doing it the entire time, and my doctors are aware. I feel like it's kept me healthy/active and kept my weight gain down!

No trip to labor and delivery. She's a customer that I chit chat with every time she comes in. I have my 37 week appointment today so I'm definitely going to ask my doctor. I feel great though.

I feel the same way that it will keep me healthy/active. Pre pregnancy I was used to lifting 50-200 lbs. multiple times/day so my body is used to being active. Of course I'm not doing that much now, but I didn't want to be just a coach potato either lol.
