Would you wear a boy in a pink sling?

I am expecting #2 this summer and we are team green.  I am looking at a really cute pink and gray ring sling that I would love to use with my 2 year old DD, but I know that our wearing days are limited.  Do you think I would be silly to invest in a girly sling when #2 could be a boy?  I am not sure how I feel about carrying a boy in pink...is it silly?  TIA!

Re: Would you wear a boy in a pink sling?

  • A lot of mamas see a carrier as an accessory for the mama, not an extension of the baby.

That said, if I found a pink carrier I loved, I would totally use it with my boy. And will admit that one of my wraps is a pretty feminine rainbow, but my H will wear it with DS. I say go for it if you love it!

  • I would, but I've also seen some nice men's dress shirts in pink that I would buy DH.

  • I try to buy carriers that DH and I will both wear, but he's pretty laid back. He wears the Amitola with no qualms (rainbow).  I don't even factor baby's sex into it.

  • I probably would, but you could also try and trade it with someone in the opposite situation. It's all about what makes you feel comfortable.

  • Thanks everyone!  I think I am just going to go for it since I am in love with this ring sling.  Glad to hear that I am not crazy to consider putting a boy in pink!  :)
  • I wear my little guy in a purple moby. If I liked pink I'd probably use a pink one.

  • I wouldn't, but that's just me.  Whatever.  Do it as long as you're ok with everyone calling him a "she" and either ignoring that or having to correct them.  Or buy a neutral one?
  • I wouldn't care at all.

  • Pink is just a color. :) I say yes.

I wouldn't worry too much about this since no matter how you dress LO people still call them the opposite sex.  People are not very observant.  I have a pink wrap and will use it even if this baby is a boy.

  • I'm the one that wears the carrier, so I pick prints that appeal to me. People are free to figure out DS's gender from what he is wearing, or his pretty gender specific name.

This.  As long as you're ok with people thinking he's a girl (if it is a boy), then go for it.  Personally, it would irritate me so I would go neutral (or wait until I knew the gender).

  • I bought most of my LO's diapers second hand and some of them are pink or lavender. I don't have any issue putting a baby in whatever color you want or need to.

this is how i feel. any wrap i wear is more a part of my outfit than my baby's.

also, pink is not just for girls!

  • I personally wouldn't, but the choice is yours!
