DH is a Kansas alum. They're in the finals tonight. This is a very, very big deal to him. (Trying to be fair in how I present this.)
I don't care about KU nor do I care about basketball. Since he's going to be glued to the game, I want to watch Once Upon A Time while he's occupied with sports.
Here's the problem. Once Upon A Time is only recorded on the basement (large screen) TV. When I told him I was planning to watch it, he freaked out because he'll have to watch the first part of the game on the main floor TV, which is a flat-screen, high-def, maybe 32" TV.
So my position is, I can get through my show in 45 minutes since I can fast forward through commercials, and then he can have the basement TV for the rest of the game. He says that's unacceptable, and I should just watch my show on my laptop. He's completely unwilling to compromise on this. I told him he's being completely unreasonable, and he said (and I quote) "If you asked any other wife in America, they'd tell you YOU were the one who's unreasonable."
So I told him I'd ask you ladies, since you're a representative sample of "any other wife in America." Give it to me straight. Am I out of line here for thinking I should get 45 minutes so I can watch my show on a TV instead of a computer? I would happily watch it upstairs, but it isn't recorded on that TV.
Re: VERY IMPORTANT - Please settle dispute between DH and me.
Watching a show on the TV or computer wouldn't make a difference to me, personally.
Regardless, I always read KU as knocked up, not Kansas.
let him have the TV.
1. because I am a sports junkie- and THIS is a very serious game. lol.
2. we own a 65 in high def TV and I wound up watching the Duke game upstairs in our bedroom once (32 in) and I stewed lol.
So personally, i get your DH. It's a big night for college bball. And considering he is alum- I would say- watch your show on your laptop-
or read... take a long bath... whatever... and watch it on the big tv later.
Hell- I don't care about Kansas- and I will be watching it on our big TV instead of working... which I really should be doing.
Me too. I don't think you are unreasonable per se, but if it were the Eagles in the SB, I would need the big tv the whole time, plus complete and utter silence and a lot of beer

My DH (I read this to him) and I vote with your DH. We feel you're being unreasonable...........you can watch your show any day - doesn't have to be tonight.
If it were me, I'd watch it on my laptop.
As the wife of a Duke alum I am doing my duty and rooting against UK while he is at a business dinner.
But your show is recorded. You don't need to watch it right this minute. Not sure why you need the big TV and why you have to watch your show tonight.......

can someone tell me wth is Smash????
(sorry for hijacking your post Hizzo)
It's a new show on NBC about a Broadway musical. Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty - clearly you don't watch shows on NBC because they promo the beejeezus out of it

I just read this to DH so that you can use this too
lol
My opinion: He's effin nuts...and an ADULT.
DH's opinion: "I wouldn't really care, I mean at least he gets to watch it uninterrupted"
Hope you get to see Once Upon A Time!
It's grown-up Glee. It follows a Broadway production of a musical about Marilyn Monroe- the casting, rehearsals, hookups, drama, etc. There's lots of singing, but it's more realistic than ppl bursting into song in the hallway.
if its not on Bravo- most likely I don't watch it. Kinda kidding. I watch EVERYTHING on TiVo and I don't watch commercials. AT ALL. - sounds interesting though. Everyone is talking about it and I haven't gotten there yet. Thanks.
I told you, I don't need the big TV, I'd be happy with the smaller one, but I can't get my show on the smaller one. It only records in the basement. And no, I don't have to watch it tonight, but usually when he's home we try to watch something together, and he won't watch that show with me, so I thought tonight would be a great night for me to catch up on it.
You sports people, you. You're all infuriating. FOR THE LOVE, IT'S A BALL AND A NET! A BALL....AND A NET!!!!!!!!!
LOL! The funny thing is I am not a sports person at all. I don't care about sports. Neither does DH. BUT, I know how important sports can be to others..........
I dunno- I guess I would just got pour myself a nice biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig glass of wine and jump in the tub for a nice long soak with some good music and a book.
Take advantage of the quiet- paint your toenails, listen to a chick music CD, read a trashy magazine...
But instead.... I will be watching the game. :-P
I didn't watch it in the beginning, but all the eps are OD so I caught up and got hooked. It has to be so expensive to produce because of the musical numbers, but I heard it got picked up for a 2nd season

I just kicked my DH off the TV from watching UNDERCOVER BOSS-- AUSTRALIA!!!
WTF- who watches that???
he started to give me slack and then just walked away lol
You can always watch Once Upon a Time on another night or online.
Your DH wins this one.
Undercover Boss is totally fake! H's company was on and everyone knew exactly who the CEO was

I say tell DH. To go watch the entire game on the small tv. Just cause it might not hurt as bad when Kansas gets killed.
DH wins this one, sorry.
Achlefublah. FINE. He's already appropriated the stupid basement TV, anyway. But for the record, I'm putting this one in my little black book of...I don't know, things that belong in my little black book, that I'll somehow be owed for later. I REALLY wanted to watch my show tonight. Like, I was looking forward to it all day. And he's being a dramatic pissant, to boot, yelled "YOU'RE RUINING MY WHOLE NIGHT" when I argued with him about it.
I'm consoling myself by remembering the DJ I was listening to this morning, who said "Really, what else does Kansas have going for it, other than basketball?" so I'll try to take that to heart and show some understanding.***
***If you are from Kansas, don't get mad, I'm joking. I dutifully read my kids the Three Little Jayhawks story on a weekly basis where they thwart the Big Bad Missoui Tiger and turn him into tiger soup, I'm doing my part. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Woo-hoo! Now I want my darn TV back.
My old company is being featured in the upcoming season- (the American version obviously).
Yeah, on the other side of that argument...you are fighting to watch a show about Princesses.
Team DH. However, I am inclined to agree with you since I am a Kentucky fan.
Let the man watch the game on the big TV. You need to take one for the team.

Oh, Kate, I was so done, but now you've got me going again...
I know, my princess show is totally stupid, but it's not like I'm telling him he can't watch the game so that I can dumb out to fairy-tale porn...I'm just suggesting he watch a small part of it on a very nice, moderately-sized, high-def television for the first quarter. (Period? Third? I don't even know what it is in basketball.) I would have been over the moon to have a TV like that back in the day, it's not like I'm suggesting he watch it on a 10" black and white set-up with rabbit ears. It seemed like a fair enough compromise to me.
