What did you do this weekend?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • I cleaned a lot this weekend, finally got the laundry room cleaned out and organized and the kitchen detailed.

My new car was dropped off on Saturday, it's so big and comfortable, I love it.  We took it out for a trip to the store on Saturday night and it drives like a dream, I do need to get used to the size of it though, it a Toyota Sequoia.

I thought I was over my cold but it turns out that my cold decided to become an ear and sinus infection, fun...

Excuse the shortness in my post, I'm exhausted after only one hour of sleep.

  • My best friend was hospitalized Friday night (she is fine now) so I spent most of the weekend either at the hospital with her or watching her two boys so that her husband could be with her.  I felt awful that my friend was sick but I really did enjoy hanging out with her two boys and Jelly Bean all day. :-)

  • oh geez two - i'm glad to hear she is fine now!
  • I was off Friday because the kids didn't have school. We had a lazy morning partly because I was waiting to hear from our friend (whose son broke his leg and is now in a full body cast)  if there was anything she needed and partly because we all needed a lazy morning in our pjs. Once I knew we were not needed, we went to an arcade place that I had bought a Living Social for. Won't be going back there. Dirty and gross. The kids played at home, I alternated between doing stuff around the house and lounging until L came home.

Saturday after the kids' swimming lessons we did a bunch of errands and went to Toys R Us to get a wagon for our friend's son (aka. the boys best friend) (he can lie in it and get pulled around - easier than a wheelchair.) Went to their house, put it together, and hung out with them after they got home. The boys did a great job of being gentle and finding a way to put Legos together with him given that he can't sit up. We left and went to our Mexican restaurant that was closing for good that night. They are going to reopen in a new location - but it was the end of an era since we've gone there since before the boys were born. The kids were exhausted and asleep before 8pm. We started watching Tower Heist, but L fell asleep.

Sunday - Apparently, L was nesting since she dismantled our kitchen, cleaned it, and put it back together. Went to BGR for lunch, did a few more errands, took a walk to our friend's house to drop some stuff off and get some exercise. We walked to find our first geocashe. Grilled out. Once again, the kids were asleep before 8pm (love that now that they don't nap regularly and we have busy weekends, they go to bed early!) And once again, L fell asleep early - so I finished Tower Heist (cute movie.)

  • I had one of those weekends when I was glad to see Monday (and daycare drop off) come!  The girls were super high maintenance this weekend.

Friday - chinese food take out, evening walk with the family, bed.

Saturday - RB had a little dance recital and my parents went w/ DW to watch.  Meanwhile Sprout, Daisy and I went to the gym.  I worked out while they played in the kid zone (their first time there, and Daisy didnt even cry! it was probably the one time all weekend she wasnt pitchign a fit Stick out tongue).  After that we met up with everyone for brunch.  It took foooorever for the food and the kids barely made it.  Home for a quick rest/clean up the house.  Then Sprout and Daisy had hair appointments (Daisy's first haircut!).  We grabbed some frozen yogurt then I headed into the office while DW took the kids to visit Bubby, dinner, and bed.

Sunday - Church in the am.  Then DW went into work. I dropped Sprout at my parent's house so he could go to a hockey game with them (he had a blast) then brought the girls home for nap.  They fell asleep in the car, went into their cribs well, and I had a peaceful lunch...and that is when all hell broke lose.  For some reason they woke up crazy (and way too soon).  I had to clean the house and cook a nice dinner (we were hosting my family for my dad's birthday that night) which would usually not be a problem but the two of them did everything humanly possible to make sure I lost my damn mind - including letting the new dogs out of the house!  oy.  DW left work early to rescue me and I managed to cook everything on my list and we had a nice birthday dinner for my dad.

  • Fri:- We had some friends over for dinner. V made this great almond crusted tilapia that she fries in coconut butter - deeelish! We ended up playing 'just dance' on the wii. Hilarious, because I have no rhythm at all :)

Sat:- Slept in, took the dogs for a nice long walk, then we had our quarterly budget planning talk. I used to hate this, but seeing how quickly we can reach our financial goals when we're actually planning is incredible. In the afternoon, I took the dogs for another walk while V took a little nap, then we hung out and watched movies.

Sun:- Got up early so that V could build a step for our friend's deck. She lives out in the country with two horses, it was really a glorious Colorado day, so I enjoyed being the extra set of hands and hanging out in yoga clothes in the sun. Then we rushed home, showered, and met V's brother and his wife for an 'adult conversation'. He had caused some drama when he decided (out of the blue) that two women raising a baby was, 'Awkward'. This alone would have been perfectly OK to launch a discussion, but the fact that he'd chosen to back up his argument by generally insulting women and making lots of uninformed statements had caused a rift between us all. The talk went OK. I don't think that we've completely resolved it, but V was able to get out her feelings, and so did they, so that's something. Sunday afternoon was another walk for me, salad for dinner, and another movie.

The weekends are getting shorter, I know it!

  • Fri: Despite the drizzle we headed to the zoo. I am glad we did since it cleared up by the time we got there and hit the mid 70s! Had a great day seeing all of the animals. This was our first time to this zoo (we live smack in the middle of two) and it was amazing!!!! Took the wrong way home, got pulled over on the way home, stopped for drive thru dinner...yeah eventful drive that ended up twice as long but the baby was well napped! We ate dinner and then went outside to play with Ky's new outside toys. Ky had a late bedtime since she had a late nap. We watched a movie and went to bed.

Sat: Ky slept in! We did some cleaning and some outside playtime. After Ky's nap, I went to the store while Ann got ready to go to a family birthday. I got home and Ann and I prepped food for our own party before heading to the family birthday. We ate dinner there and then dropped Ky off at my mom's house. Our friends from up norht were waiting at our house when we got there so we picked them up to go get some drinks. Whjen we got back other people started trickling in. We played cards and stayed up way late for us.

Sun: Slept in!!! Our friend R had left early to get home in time for a family function but M was still there so we went to Best Buy (they do not have one where they are from) and Olive Garden. Picked up Ky and all of us played outside for a bit. M went home and we came in since it looked like rain. Ky and I made another grocery run since I did not realize how low we were on milk (a crime in our house). Ky went to bed and we watched some of the music awards before heading to bed for an early start to the day.

  • We had a very low key weekend again. I guess I do most of the housework/errands during the week...?

Friday - J worked in the am, worked out and then we made an amazing dinner with chicken, broccoli, pasta and cheesy garlic bread. We watched a little TV and went to bed early.

Saturday - J worked all morning while I did light housework. After she got home we went for a walk and then went out for some early drinks (that turned into many drinks since it was also CD1).

Sunday - We went to chipotle for lunch. Came home and watched movies and old Saved By the Bell episodes on Netflix.  It was so nice to just be lazy and hang out with each other.

  • Friday: E and I had pizza and movie night at home...chill time with my little girl.

Saturday: E woke up at 6:15 due to a bad dream. She came in bed with me and somehow by laying ON my legs she fell back asleep. Don't know how that worked but hey, it worked. E's nana and papa came to pick her up around 12:30 and didn't bring her home until about 9pm. She had a very large day visiting her nana and papa and auntie. While she was gone I did a bunch of cleaning and organizing, took a bunch of stuff for donation, did laundry and got groceries.

Sunday: E was up early again, yawn. No going back to sleep however. In the late morning we went to a lunch and Easter egg hunt at the house of some friends of E's from school. There were a TON of people there. E had a good time playing with all her friends and picking up lots of eggs with treats and toys inside. In the late afternoon K came over and spent time hanging out with us. We dyed eggs, E rode K like a pony all over the living room (probably killed my poor girl's back!) and they laughed and were silly while I made dinner. We took E out during a break between storms and she practiced riding her bike without training wheels while I held on to the seat. We had stuffed manicotti for dinner and I sent some home with K for while she's at work this week. After dinner K painted E's nails a sparkly purple and they had fun talking about girly things. At one point E said, "mommy I still love you"... like she felt like K was getting all her attention and she needed to check in with me. It melted my heart. E and K are bonding and I could not be happier. Big Smile

  • 2brides- My sister compound fractured her femur when she was 5 and was in a body cast (she was in traction in the hospital for a long time since they didn't pin back then).  When she got home she had a cast that ran from under her armpits down one full leg and halfway down the other one with a bar between them.  My dad made her a little scooter cart out of plywood and caster wheels so that she could scoot around on her belly in the house.  Your friend might want to see is she can make one for her son it might help a little with the whole situation.

  • It was a mellow weekend.

Saturday EV and I made breakfast together (cheese blintz w/ berry compote). We hung out with a friend and went to Costco (for fun and for shopping). Came home and took a nap. Later that night we were in our yoga pants (i.e. pajama's) just finished a movie and dinner when another friend called and invited us to see Hunger Games again.  In a very atypical (since pregnancy) fashion we said yes and went to a 10pm movie. The popcorn was great and I liked the movie even better the second time.

Sunday I slept in until 10:30am, and EV woke me with breakfast in bed, waffles, eggs and turkey bacon - yum.  We hung out around the house all day doing homework, reading (we're each on a Game of Thrones book, well actually since EV finished #2 yesterday we're both on book #3... I guess I need to hustle).  I did some chores in the evening after taking a nap. Before bed we tried out the shine the light on your belly trick and got a kick out of watching my belly move where ever we shone the light. Theres a person in there - go figure!!.

Somewhere in my mind I know we have only 14ish weekends left of pre-kid life, and I am savoring every selfish little minute with just me and EV.

Yea, it is the same type of cast. :( I will talk with her about him being on his belly. Right now he is just on his back.
