Weaning?

My baby will be 10 months tomorrow, and I don't want to start weaning until 12 months. However, I'm wondering what the best way to go about weaning is. I'm planning on feeding her goat's milk.

Should I introduce a little goat's milk during meal times now, to get her used to it before I start eliminating bf sessions?

If any of you have experience weaning, could you let me know what you did? Anything you regret? Thank you!

Re: Weaning?

  • My LO is the same age as yours and she decided to wean herself a couple weeks ago. I am determined to get to one year though, so I am EPing now. Anyway, we went to the pedi about this last week and he said I can start to give her a little WCM (or goat) at 11 months. He said I could start by mixing an oz or so into her bottle. I have been asking around IRL and most people say their BF LOs take WCM without a problem.

So in another month I will probably start giving her WCM in a sippy once a day and adding it to bottles occasionally.

  • That sounds like a good plan to me, the starting with one sippy cup a day of WCM or goat's milk. I guess we'll just see where it goes from there.
