Once I decided to go natural I set off in search for a doula, interviewed 3 and finally hired one today. I'm 21 weeks at this point. What should I focus on next? I am going to take a NB class in May/June in addition to the regular hospital classes.
should I just focus on reading NB books now? I just feel like I need to be doing things to actively prepare for the rest of my pregnancy but I'm not sure what.
I probably need to get a yoga dvd and start walking more now that the weather is nice
Re: found doula, what next?
Exercise is good - yoga was my favorite. Swimming was also really nice the further along I got.
Read what appeals. Start thinking about if you want to align yourself with a specific birthing method or just use what sounds good.
Read a bit about baby stuff, too. You have more time now than you will then. "Happiest Baby on the Block" and "Eat Sleep Poop" were good.
Personally, pregnancy pretty much took care of itself. I didn't read much about pregnancy because all I had to do was wait and my body took care of making the baby.

It sounds like you and I are on the same "planning" track. This past week was spent researching doulas, child birth classes, birth methods, and lactation consultants. You should check out the book "One year to an organized Life with Baby". If you are a planner, you will love it! It goes through each week of pregnancy and recommends projects for you to work on (and it takes into consideration how you will be feeling physically and emotionally that week). It is awesome.
There are a lot of spring cleaning and organizing projects in there-one of them was organizing my office and getting a filing system in place for baby. One of them was going through my closet and getting rid of clothes I don't wear, and then rearranging based on what will still work for maternity. This last week was organizing my kitchen to make room for baby stuff. Im already pretty organized so these projects didn't remove a lot of junk from my house but I do like feeling like I am crossing things off the list and actively getting ready for our baby.
oh man so many cleaning/organizing projects to do around the house! Going up and down the stairs moving things from the office to the basement has been exercise for me today
we have probably 3 carloads of stuff to take to Goodwill. Getting stuff done around the house and checking things off my list definitely helps take my anxiety down a couple of notches.
