was it a gradual transition? or was it like a switch? and if so WTF is that switch?! lol!
J has slept through the night maybe 4-5 times over the past 3 weeks. we'll get a night or 2 of solid sleep and then a night or 3 of constant wake ups. i know he's teething still, so maybe this is why?
Re: those who have LO's who sleep through the night...
We did Ferber and since about night 5 of Ferber, the switch flipped. When we know he is teething/uncomfortable we will give tylenol or advil...
Teething could be the culprit.

Our LO started with 8 hour stretches at 8 weeks. However, it was totally inconsistent from then until 6 months when we decided to do Ferber. Some nights it would be 3 hour stretches, some nights 10. At 6 months, we did Ferber, and by the second night she was doing an 11.5 hour night, which she has continued to do consistently.
It was gradual...she settled herself into sleeping 8/9p - 6a around 3 months. Her sleep and wake up times were erratic until a little after 7 months. Then it was like a switch. All of a sudden she had to be in bed at 7 or 7:30 or else she lost her little mind. We can stretch her bedtime past 7 if we're out somewhere and she's interested in what's going on, but we haven't gone later than 9.
She has been waking up a bit with teething and standing, but nothing crazy. We usually just have to give her a little belly pat and/or lay her back down and she's good to go.
