I was wondering what all the fuss was about with the doppler--I mean, I get it that it's cool to hear the heartbeat, but I'm not about to spend $60... Anyway, DH was saying how it sucks that we won't have u/s so often anymore now that we've graduated from the RE and I mentioned how some people get dopplers. He then told me they've got them at his work (he is a medic in the Air Force) and that he could borrow one. Awesome!
So he brought it home tonight. It's kind of old and very basic (no speakers, no display that shows beats per minute) and he couldn't find anything. He gave it to me and for a while I could only hear my own heart beat--a slower, steady "woosh-woosh." Then, all of a sudden, I heard wooshing at about twice that rate!! I called DH over but then I was like "Crap, I lost it!!" But then I was able to find it again and he took the earpieces and listened, too.
I think I heard the other baby, too, but its hard to tell if it wasn't just the same one. With the second one, though, I heard the fast heartbeat with my slower heartbeat behind it too, which is why i think it was in a different spot from the first. Hard to tell this early.
But yeah, very very cool. I didn't think we'd be able to get it, but cool that we did. And it's nice to have that reassurence since it's a month until our next appointment.
Re: XP: Ok, the doppler IS pretty cool.
Yay! I'm so jealous you got to listen to the heartbeats! I really want to get a doppler, but (a) I'm afraid I'll get addicted (b) I don't know how to find both heartbeats...I'm afraid I'll freak if I can only hear one.
Are you going to get one to keep now?
