I've been reading a lot about people's supplies dropping around 6 months. Why do you all think that might be?
I've been very blessed so far to have few supply issues, but it's always a concern in the back of my mind. I'm just hoping to get some ideas to maybe avoid this common concern I'm seeing creep up on these boards a lot as DD gets closer to 6 months!
TIA

Re: Six Month Supply Dip?
People frequently start solids around 6 months or increase the amount of solids if they started sooner. That's a possible cause. A plateau or slow down in growth around that time could be another possibility. I'm sure it could be any number of things though. FWIW, I didn't have any issues at 6 months, so it's not something that always happens.
ETA: The sleep suggestion seems like a good one. That one never even crossed my mind since DS was still nursing a ton at night when he was 6 months. I guess I should be thankful that having a bad sleeper contributed to my good supply?

Yep! Happened to me... for several reasons, I think.
1) I stopped pumping before bed. DD's last feeding was at 7pm. I would stay up until 10 pm to pump. (I decided I would rather sleep than pump)
2) DD started sleeping until 5 am.
I think the combined factors caused my supply to drop and I couldn't keep up with her demands. I weaned DD at almost 7 months. I don't regret it at all.
