Adoption

Newbie

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for awhile, but have finally decided to take the plunge! I am Dana and am 27 and my DH is Travis and he is 32. We are currently home study approved and just waiting for our child to find us. We are doing a transracial domestic adoption. My whole life I have wanted to adopt and am so excited that we are embarking on this journey!

  • Our agency has an AA/biracial program also. I don't know that there is much difference in the actual process, just from what I understand a shorter wait time and a slight discount in price. We also do have one extra class we have to go to through our home study agency on becoming a transracial family. Other than that the paperwork and everything else is the same!

Welcome! Our story sounds somewhat familiar also having TTC and then miscarriage. I'm so excited to be moving onto adoption though and not having to deal with all the emotions that come with infertility!

I am sorry to be negative, but I think it is disgusting that an agency would give a "discount" on a baby because of their race. That is just all kinds of messed up in my opinion. I know many do, but we chose not to work with those agencies.
