Success after IF

Ear tube/anesthesia mommies:

Did your child develop a cough/runny nose after surgery?  I read online that in children who had croup before/were preemies have more of a risk to develop a croupy cough from the anesthesia, and well Sophie was coughing all night and runny nose today :(   Her right ear is draining too, but not bad, just some dried blood it looks like and she's on drops.

Re: Ear tube/anesthesia mommies:

  • Mine both had coughs, but it was because they were both sick at the time they were getting tubes.

Drainage is normal.  DD2 had a lot of bloody drainage because they had to suction out so much fluid :(

  • Thanks!  She wasn't sick prior to surgery.  My friend (who's in med school right now) said it sounds normal since the tubes are allowing the fluid to drain, its just coming out properly now, which I guess makes sense.  I just feel bad cause she was fine, got the tubes and BAM, same night was sick.  Watery eyes, nose running every 2 seconds and coughing alot. :(
