Trying to Get Pregnant

How long TTC?

How long have all of you been TTC? I got a visit from AF this morning, so we will be starting our 6th month. I really thought this one was the month it would happen for us, but guess not.

Does any have some tips on temperature charting? I'm still trying to get the hang  of it. I didn't have the best luck using OPKs, but it's probably because I only used them once a day rather than more.

Re: How long TTC?

  • We have been trying since December. IDK much about temping yet, sorry! I'm still learning about it and OPK's myself. GL to you hun!!

  • Loading the player...
  • Morning!

We have been TTC for 2 months now.  Last month I only used OPKs and charted CM (we've been practicing NFP for about 8-9 months, but only based on CM).  This month I started to temp so I would know more about my body.  I've been able to temp daily, but DH is really annoyed with the beeping of the thermometer.  Instead of setting my alarm and getting up slightly earlier than him, I find myself sleeping until his alarm and letting him get out of bed before I temp (which then makes me have to really hurry to get ready for work!)

As for OPKs, I tested in the mornings last month, and switched to twice a day this month.  I do the morning and late afternoon.  A lot of people here say they catch their surge in the afternoon, so if you've only been using them in the morning you might want to try more than once a day or change the time.  Good luck to you!

  • Oh, sex isn't a problem for us. I'm just trying to get some ideas of how other people are tracking things. There's so much out there, and everyone seems to tell me something different.

Sounds like you know what you're doing wrong. Read the tutorials on fertility friend.

FYI, those won't get you pregnant.. only sex will. I would have more sex and make sure you're temping/using OPKs properly to see if you're ovulating and when

You mean all my posting on TB is for NOTHING Jessuh?! Damn!

OP, we're in the TWW for our 4th cycle. Good luck!

  • I would recommend reading the book: "taking charge of your fertility". It has tons of valuable information about charting and fertility.
  • Trying since our wedding last July, but I was diagnosed with PCOS shortly after.  I just started using OPK's twice daily this cycle, my sleep is too erratic for BBT charting.

  • This is our 9th month, 10th cycle (I tend to have short cycles).

I've actually found temping and charting to be pretty easy for me. What part of that are you struggling with?

  • This is our first cycle TTC since DS was born. It took more than a year to get pregnant the first time so we are trying early for #2.
  • Pretty sure I'm starting my period today which means I'm now in my 12th cycle/12th month of TTC. Just make sure you're taking your temp at the same time each morning and plug it into Fertility Friend. Let the program do the work for you. Try doing OPKS once in the morning and then maybe at lunch time or later afternoon. Until you get the hang of it and learn your body it would be best to have sex every other day to make sure you hit your fertile window. Good luck!

  • Cycle 4. Not temping because I just can't get the hang out of it (even with the thermometer next to my bed I hit snooze, then when I finally get up I go straight to the bathroom and forgot to take my temperature). However I haven't tried that hard either... But I am using OPKs, this is my 2nd cycle using OPKs.

  • Been trying since January and now starting cycle #4. I just temp first thing when I wake up. It's not the exact same time (6:50-7:10) but close enough. As for OPK's I use 2nd MU and then test again in the evening. I tend to catch the surge with the 2nd MU. Some surges only last 12 hours so if you're not testing twice a day you might be missing it.
  • We've been trying for 6 months, 5 cycles.  Got pregnant on cycle 4 and then miscarried.

Temp at the same time every day. Fertility Friend is a helpful tool for charting. I use OPKs twice a day (6am, 4pm) from around CD 10 until I get a sustained temp shift.  Also, if you haven't read it already, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is an excellent resource. Good luck!

  • We are on our first cycle for #2, but DD took 12 cycles to conceive.  We have no known fertility issues.  I tempted for many cycles and used OPKs for some as well as pre-seed.  I would say we had good timing 9 out of 12 cycles.  Sometimes it just takes some time.

  • We've been TTC since DS was 6 months old (for 4.5 months). I've been charting and trying to catch my O, but so far it looks like I haven't yet at all. I still haven't gotten a postpartum period.
  • This is only our first cycle TTC after I had my Mirena out in February. I feel like AF is on the way, so we may be on to cycle 2 here soon.

I started temping and using OPKs right out of the gate. I caught the surge on this cycle somehow... I only tested 1x/day at about 4:30p when I got home from work.

Like PPs have said, the courses on FF are really helpful.
