Girl names we both love but...

We have our anatomy ultrasound in a week and a half and after that we'll know for sure if our presumed girl is indeed a girl.  We're pretty set on the name:

Wilhelmina Anne (nickname, Mina)

It's a family name and I love it and my husband is fond of it too.  My Mom, sisters and uncle are not really fond of the name.  My Mom is concerned about her future grandchild being teased on the playground and my sisters think the given name is ugly.   

We're planning on naming our next daughter Lydia Mary, a name no one has said anything negative about.  But, I really want to use both name sets.

 

What do you think?

 

(Don't even get me started on the boys names my husband likes.  I really hope our first is girl!)

    Ignore your family.  It's a great name!  I see no reason she would get teased.

    I think it's a mouthful of a name for a little kid, but I do love the nn of Mina.  Go for it, when she is born no one will think anything of it because they will all be so in love with your little girl. :)  This reason exactly is why we also stopped telling anyone our names.  If someone asks I just say that we aren't sure and are still thinking about it.  Even though we have already painted letters ready in their closet to be hung on the wall after they are born.  HA! :)

    I love Wilhelmina....love the nn Mina and Willa too. Ignore your family and go ahead with your rockin' name! :)

    I'm not a fan of the name but there isn't anything wrong with it!

    Ignore your family.

    Mina or Willa are super cute nns! Next time... don't tell them the names you're thinking of.

    I totally understand why so many of my friends have kept their baby names under wraps until delivery.

    I think it's a great name.

    Kids will always find a way to tease no matter what your name is. I have one of the most boring names in the world and my sister used to call me "Messy Jessy" (even though I was a neat freak...go figure).

    I don't like the name but I do love Willa. Mina is cute too. Our neighbor named their daughter Willa and I think it's so cute and I have never met another Willa.

    That being said, if you both agree I say use it and ignore everyone else. Who knows what will be popular in 5, 10 or 20 years. 20 years ago, I wouldn't have dreamed of naming a son Oliver and now it's our first pick. 

     PP is right about kids always finding something to tease her about if they want to.

    It's not bad, though I like the nn Willa much much better than Mina.

    It's NMS, but it's a perfectly fine name. Ignore your family - they named their babies, you name yours.

    I personally ike Lydia more than Wilhelmina myself, but both are fine names.

    You should pick what you and your DH like the best!

    I don't think it's horrible but I do agree with your sisters and think it's kind of ugly.  I do like Mina though.

    At the end of the day, the name will grow on them because they will love your child. Do what you want. :-)

    I'm not a fan of either name really...just NMS.  But I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thought...if you both love the name, then go for it!  

    I'd pick my favorite name to use the first time though because you might not get a girl next time.

    If you love it, use it!  Everyone else had or may have their chance to name their own kids.

    Agreed. I DO like Mina as a nn. Before reading the other replies, I immediately thought of Willa as an alternative to Wilhelmina (such a mouthful!) I think Willa is sweet.

    I prefer Lydia as well but I think Marie sounds better as a mn than Mary. I agree with the PP who says that you might want to use that instead if you like it enough to use for a future DD's name. You can't be sure that you'll have another girl in the future.
