Hi Ladies,
DD is almost a month old and since last week has been suffering from reflux and colic. She was in the ER and started on Zantac and has been slowly improving. Both the ER and GI docs recommended that I try to cut out dairy to see if it helps her. Have any of you done this and had success? I am trying to figure out how extreme to go-do I need to read every label for tiny amounts of dairy? Also if any of you have done this how soon did you see a difference? I am so desperate for her to feel better I would try anything but want to make sure that I am doing it correctly. Thanks in advance for your help.
Re: Cutting out dairy for colic/reflux?
I cut Lactose out of my diet and cut back on my other dairy products as well and it seemed to help reflux but we started him on Zantac this week anyway. (it?s hard to alter the diets of 5 other people in the house)
My sister?s baby had colic really bad and she saw a chiropractor for her LO and had great improvement after the first adjustment.
DD started having colic around 3 weeks and I found out quickly from friends that going dairy free can help. In my world this meant no milk, cheese, sour cream, butter, ice cream, etc. I never even thought about the hidden dairy. For DD, this was enough. She improved immediately and was like a new baby within a week or two of quitting.HTH!
