LO has been spitting up more lately. Today we had two biggies. Like change all clothes for both she and I and clean up the couch and carpet.
I get burps out of her when she eats. Sometimes the spitting up happens 30+ mins or so after she has eaten.
She gets a little fussy right before it happens but doesnt seem too terribly upset.
She wants to nurse right after it happens.
I have heard that spit up looks worse than it is, but it sure seems like a lot coming out of her.
Re: spitting up - what is normal?
sometimes she leaks, very small amounts, but not always. I am noticing it alot more though lately so its possible that she is just getting reflux.
But, if that were the case, wouldnt she be in pain while she eats? She doesnt show any signs of discomfort while she is eating.
My LO does this, too. Is your baby gaining weight well? As long as the weight gain is good, and she doesn't seem bothered by the spit up, no treatment is necessary. My baby does all of the same stuff. He fusses right before, but doesn't seem to care when he loses a giant amout of breastmilk. It stresses me out more than it does him. The only other worry would be if she is spitting up forcefully, like a couple of feet. Then you have to be concerned about pyloric stenosis.
We've just begun doing this as well! I've been dealing with this with my 10-week old since she was about 2 weeks old. She spits up and sometimes even projectiles but she's gaining weight like a champ and has no discomfort at all.
She spits up whether it's formula or breast milk and we've tried 5 different formulas but she continues to spit up. We even had her on Zantac for a while but it still made no difference and the doctors have said as long as she's not in any pain and she continues to gain weight it's just a laundry issue.
I was really concerned about it for a while but all I keep hearing is that it's normal, so we've just decided to use receiving blankets for burp cloths and doing laundry more often. Good luck!
