Two Different Questions (Round ligament pain, safe cosmetics)

Okay, I had a couple different questions for you ladies, but I didn't wanna waste space with two separate threads, so I'll just combine them here. :)

First,  I think I've been having round ligament pains, but most of what I read says that the pain is sharp/stabbing and what I feel is more like the ache you get the first day after a rough workout, but only in the very low abdomen/pelvis area. Don't know that I'd even call it painful, just sore. (And in case anyone asks, no bleeding/spotting whatsoever.) Assuming it's RLP because I only really feel it when I get up after sitting for a long time (like getting out of the car) or when I change positions in bed after awhile/get out of bed in the morning, and it goes away within 10-15 seconds of activity. If I remain active I don't really feel anything. Does that sound about right? (I won't know how far along I am until next Monday. I can reasonably imagine anything from 8/9 weeks up to maybe 14. First pregnancy).

Second, any recommendations for good, safe beauty products (particularly foundation/powder) that you ladies use while pregnant? Not particularly worried about cost.

 Thank you!

Re: Two Different Questions (Round ligament pain, safe cosmetics)

  • I know nothing about RLP (my first pregnancy) but I use Origins cosmetics. All natural no chemicals. It's a little pricier, but I've never had a problem with breakouts etc.
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements
March 11, 2014 ovulated despite every doctors prognosis!!!
Oct 2014 hormones (FSH 48, Estradiol 89, HCG 1) not good, but heckuva lot better!

Nov. 16, 2015 FET of single adopted 5AA embryo - BFN

  • RLP, as far as I remember/experienced, is a second and third tri thing. In the first tri, your uterus never really even makes it past your pelvic bone -- the ligaments aren't even stretching yet.

It really is a sharp, sudden stab of pain that makes you grab your (big) belly and go "Oooo!" like when you roll over, twist, stand up, or make any other sudden change in position. Sometimes it does ache, but I remember that more when I was actually pretty big -- it's not a crampy ache but more like a tight, stretchy ache.

First tri aches are much more subtle and are more from the uterus changing than from any ligaments stretching. Feels more like period cramps or exercise cramps.

  • I've had similar pain. Not sure if it's actually round ligament pain. All the forums and my doctor say its completely normal. It's just your body adjusting. :-) I will say it freaks my poor husband!

Regarding makeup: I use bare minerals.

  • I've been getting RLP, especially when I turn over a lil too fast in the middle of the night, its sharp and almost stabbing but it goes away in about 10 seconds. It makes me think "omg the baby" but he or she is cushioned pretty good in there lol Its normal, I remember with my first pregnancy I could barely walk it was so stabbing. I was kelt over anything I could grab onto for support.

As for makeup, I honestly never thought of checking the stuff I have is okay, I use Revlon for foundation and Lancome for the eyes and I don't wear lipstick, just lipbalm.

  • I first experienced RLP with my first pregnancy around 11 weeks.  It didn't feel achy, but more stabby or sharp.  And it was a quick pain, like I pulled a muscle by getting up too fast.  It was right on the front inside of my hip bone too (vs. on the side of your hips).

As for cosmetics...I didn't change anything. I usually wear Mary Kay mineral foundation (it's a loose powder).

This is it 100%! When RLP hits I am always grabbing the spot to massage it! Its very obvious, and when it hits you later your going to be like, oh damn thats what they were talking about! lol

As for make-up, I love BareMinerals!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
