1st Trimester

Pants are the enemy now!

I'm not naive I know your belly will grow and pants will not longer fit. However, I did not expect this to happen at 9-10 weeks. My weight is the same expect for a couple lbs but the pants are not working anymore. My first appt is on Wednesday and I don't want to buy anything until I get the confirmation.

Thank god it's warm enough to wear dresses that's my saving grace this past week!! Anyone else on the same page?

  • Yes, the bloat is out of control this time around and I have been wearing maternity pants already.

  • UGH! I totally know what you mean.  Every morning when I get ready for work and have to put on the bella band I get pissed off.  I count the hours til I can come home and either throw on sweat pants or a cute nightgown.

  • Me too!  Friday when I woke up, I could not fasten my pants, I could only zip them up.  So I put a belt on and wore a long shirt.  Sure enough, I got outted by nosey co-workers.  So, I went this weekend and had to get a couple of pairs of maternity pants.  They are so comfy - so definitely a good move.  I don't like that bella band.  I haven't gained any weight either - it is all bloat :-(

  • YES! I have a business trip scheduled in about two weeks and I broke down and went to Ross and bought some nicer knit stretchy pants that I can throw a top over and be fine...I refuse to buy maternity pants until my pants really really don't fit anymore. Thank goodness summer is coming, I plan to stock up on dresses
  • When I wear my regular pants I feel uncomfortable, yet when I wear the bella band or maternity pants I look 6 months pregnant!  Not sure what to do.  I don't really feel like I want to tell people yet, so do I just live with feeling uncomfortable?

  • Definitely on the same page here and I'm only 7 weeks!  It's got to be bloat... or we're having twins (my first appt isn't until April 3rd).  Based on how my pants feel today, I'm seriously considering maternity pants already.  Or the little band thing that lets you wear your pants unbuttoned.  Anything has got to be more comfortable than this!

  • I'm right there with ya! I'm plus size (size 22) and I'm having a hard time with my pants and I've LOST 5lbs!! I refuse to do up the button on my jeans, only the zipper but man is it uncomfortable and I don't look the best in dresses lol I have to figure out a wardrobe soon or I'm screwed!

  • I'm barely over six weeks and already keeping my pants up with a hair tie!! Guess I should invest in a Bella band - where did you guys get yours?

  • In the same boat over here! I broke down yesterday and went to JCPenny and bought a pair of super cute maternity $25, also a pair of capris for $25! I was amazed at how affordable they were and they are super cute on!

  • Me!  Haven't been buttoning them for a few weeks, but now I don't even bother to zipper.  My saving grace has been BeBands from Target!  They're comfortable and really work!

I havn't gained anything yet either, actually lost a pound, but I have been uncomfortable in pants since about 6 weeks this time. (2nd pregnancy, terrible bloat very early). Even if I unzipped them I couldn't sit down without feeling like my pants were trying to kill me. I've lived in sweats mostly. Unfortunately too cold still here for dresses.

  • I totally agree.  I'm so bloated I can only wear one pair of my dress pants to work now!  I am going to be getting some pants of a stretchy material tonight cuz I feel so uncomfortable I just wanna scream at work.  Going to the bathroom is such a relief as I can breifly escape my pants. Hahaha

  • Just give in and wear the maternity pants. You will be so glad you did! I was having  terrible nausea, but as soon as I started wearing maxi dresses and maternity pants, I was so much more comfortable and it lessened. You're going to need the maternity stuff in a few weeks anyway. Might as well be comfortable.

  • Umm dumb question but how do you know if its bloat? Because my lower belly is hard and everything is moving as it should for now. Idk. But I'm online shopping now for these belly bands, haven't heard the greatest about them but I'm willing to try it.

  • I didn't wear maternity pants until I was 7 months last time. I just didn't want to share my pregnancy with anyone because I was weirdly worried. I discovered that they were quite comfy. This time I only made it 8 weeks because I felt like my pants were trying to kill me and I didn't feel like suffering. The maternity pants are brilliantly comfy and some are quite cute. I bought some 7 for All Mankind ones on eBay and they are way trendy.
