1st Trimester

Has my baby stopped growing???

Ok, i know some people don't start to show till 2nd trimester, but i've had a distinguishable "bump" that i couldn't suck away at 8 weeks. Sure, sometimes i bloat up like a balloon, and i know thats bloat, but then when it would go away i'd still have a low-set belly "bump".

Now, here i am at 12 weeks and my belly is getting thinner. When i'm not bloated from food, I'm starting to wonder if i HAVE a bump.

Could this be an indication the baby has stopped growing? Anyone else experienced this?

My next midwife appointment is in 1.5 weeks... i'm starting to feel anxious again

  • I can't offer help, but I have had a similar issue. At 8 weeks I had a very large "bump". Yes it was bloat, but it was "bump-shaped" and I had a flat stomach so I looked very pregnant. I had people at work asking me if I was pregnant because nothing I wore could cover it up!

Now, I'm nearly 10 weeks and my stomach is flat again. I've heard "disappearing bump" is relatively normal (especially when it's a faux early bump). That being said I'm very paranoid right now too and would love to know that we aren't alone :)

  • I have the same issue as the pp. I've seen on here that the disappearing bump is quite normal, but it's been scaring me too!

  • I am 16 weeks and still have a little bump that has not really changed since my 12 weeks or so. But my doctor says every thing is going fine. You should be fine

  • The bloat kind of lets up a bit at 12 weeks - that's completely normal. You don't usually start getting an actual baby bump (at least with your first) til closer to 16-20 weeks. There's nothing to worry about!

  • Thank you, Ladies for your encouraging responses!!! I really do feel better from what you gals have experienced and/or have heard.

This is my first, and I haven't had any bleeding or pain or something to indicate harm.

    God bless your pregnancies!Smile
