First of all, I kind of can't believe I'll be 3rd tri in a matter of weeks!
Hubby and I are planning our babymoon and the week that works best is between 26 and 27 weeks pregnant. I was hoping you ladies could tell me your experience - did you still feel comfortable at that point? Would you have been up to a 5 day vacation?
As of now, I feel fine and could totally do it... I hope I still will next month! Thanks!!
Re: Visitor from 2nd tri... will I still feel good at 27 weeks?
Thanks for the reassurance!!
Im sure you will feel fine, but take it easy too. Im 29 weeks and 27-28 weeks was about the time I started thinking- dang- Im feeling pregnant lately.
Have fun!
If you're flying anywhere, do yourself a huge favor and get an aisle seat! It makes it way less awkward to get to the all-important restroom.
We travelled around 24 weeks and other than swelling from the plane rides, I felt great! I wouldn't expect that to be much different at 27 weeks.
I think every pregnancy can be a little different for each woman.
With this 2nd pregnancy, it is new difficult to sleep and breathe in the 3rd trimester. And my back hurts. I am feeling the weight of the pregnancy and having a 22 month toddler son.
With my son, I felt like his head was on my pelvic bone before he came, and he was a preemie who at close to 31 weeks.
If something happens during that your vacation, would you be easily able to get medical facilites? Is the vacation close to where you live?
When my son was in the NICU, we met parents whose son in the NICU but they were out of state from California. They went on an Alaska cruise, and they were close to the cutoff. The cruiseline allowed them to board. She went into labor. And she and her son had to airlifted to Seattle, Washington (Seattle had the best NICU unit closeby). Her son was in the NICU, and she chose to stay in Washington with her son. The father went back to California to work. Since they lived in California, her insurance had to wait to get the approval to move her son to a hospital in California in the area where they lived.
I'm 29 weeks and still feel completely normal. Yes, everyone is different, but I think you should be fine
DH and I went on a 7 day western Caribbean cruise when I was 22 weeks and I hiked, swam, walked pretty good distances. Enjoy your last "adults-only" vacation before baby comes!
No one can predict how you're going to feel. Just like in second tri, we all feel differently.
My personal experience was that I felt good throughout the pregnancy so I wouldn't hesitate to go away for the weekend even now (though I might stay a little closer to home these days). If I had felt crappy off and on throughout the pregnancy I might just take it easy or play it by ear on a last minute thing.
I didn't start to feel pretty blah until 32ish weeks. Within the last two weeks it's gotten worse though--but the main factors are due to me having a high risk pregnancy... So, given I didn't have all that going on, I still think I'd feel pretty darn good.
At 27 weeks I think I would have been able to comfortably enjoy a babymoon... I wasn't swelling yet and walking/bending/being active wasn't a huge issue.
If you feel fine now you should be ok then. We went on ours at 30 weeks and I overdid it and it's all been downhill since then.
It also depends on what your plans are- if you're going to be walking a lot or resting a lot... if you are flying definitely get an aisle so you can stand up, walk, and go to the bathroom.
