6ish weeks and HCG didn't double : (

in 1st Trimester
So at the beginning of this week, I had an ultrasound that showed just a gestational sack and yolk sack and dated me 5 1/2 weeks. I go back for an ultrasound on Monday, but in the meantime had two hcg tests done this week (48 hours apart). My doctor didn't give me the numbers but said they didn't double, but they did go up. He said they are moving in the right direction and at this point in pregnancy a sonogram is more reliable at this point. But I can't help but feel this is a sign of impending bad news.

    no. you could be really early like i was. i had the same thing happen and i went to the doc and done a u/s and they only seen the sac last week then. this week bec im a high risk pregnancy i get ultrasounds every week. i had a ultrasound this week and i seen the yolk sac and the baby and the heart beat so dont freak. they said last week i was 5 weeks 5 days when really i was only 4 weeks

    Once your HCG numbers get above 1200 they don't necessarily double every 48 hours. At 5.5 weeks you are probably over 1200 so normal doubling time is 72-96 hours. See the page below for a chart, calculator, etc :)

    No worries! You are fine. I had an ultrasound with my high risk doctor at 5.5 weeks this week and we saw the same (gestation sac and yolk sac) and he reassured me that is completely normal for being in the 5 week range!
