FFFC

Because I want to type mine before I forget, even though it's lame.

I wish shows like GOT and True Blood weren't HBO-produced because I don't like them being so graphic (TB more than GOT with the sex). I'm kind of prudish and it makes me feel uncomfortable watching people fkcing with everything out in the open, ya know? I had to stop watching TB after season 1 which stinks because I like the books and think I'd like the show if it wasn't so graphic.

Also, I had to check my calendar before posting because I've been off all week. Wednesday I was wondering why there wasn't a real UO thread besides Yules' vegan-inspired one.

Re: FFFC

  • In the past week or so, DS has really picked up an interest in dancing, music, and musical instruments, especially the xylophone. I am already daydreaming of him being the next Stewart Copeland, the next Mick Fleetwood, the next Phil Collins.

I think we are two opposite ends of the prudish spectrum.  I wish shows like Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad were on Showtime or HBO so they weren't hindered by FCC rules.

  • I spilled an entire container of blueberries on the floor at Walmart this morning. Then the loose berries still in my cart slowly trickled out as I went to checkout, so I left a blueberry trail behind me. The employees must be loving me right now after they've been all mushed. Whoops (in my defense, the lid wasn't closed all the way!)

  • I blew my nose on my husband's bath towel.

When I was a freshman in high school, I faked an injury to get out of gym class. My mom took me to urgent care where they x rayed it. There was a fracture in my wrist and I needed a cast! I think it was from cheerleading because I didn't so much as bump my arm wrong in any other setting.

  • And I have another one, that's kind of flameful but it's flame free right?

I don't really like my dog any more. I feel terrible saying (typing) that, but it's true. I've had him since he was 6 weeks old and I was in college. And I have LOVED that dog and praised him as the most awesome dog in the universe. He used to have this great doggy personality, was so happy and affectionate, etc.

Since we had the baby (almost 2 years now), the dog wants NOTHING to do with us. He mostly just keeps to himself all day long. He never wants to play or anything. I don't think he's touched a ball or any other toy for about 2 years now. He is also 13 years old now, so part of it is that he's just turned into a crotchety old man dog. He REALLY wants nothing to do with our son, who gets so excited if he can ever get close enough to touch his fluffy fur before the dog hightails it out of there.

The only time he DOES come out to see us is when we are eating or I'm cooking. Then he is underfoot the entire time trying to trip me, and he paces around the dinner table panting LOUDLY.

Oh, and he has a partially collapsed trachea, so he is constantly making this hacking sound like he's coughing up hairballs. I know he can't help it and I feel bad for him, but still - it's a disgusting sound. It wears on you.

Oh, and he pooped in the house this week. He's been housebroken for years, the back door was WIDE open. And it wasn't like diahrrea sick - it was just normal poop. He was just too lazy to go outside.

Plus whenever he does get sick, he insists on vomitting on the carpet. 80% of our house is tile and hardwoods.

I'd never give him away or anything, but I really feel like we're now just mutually tolerating each other until he goes to the big dog park in the sky. Sigh. I hate it that I now view my dog as a source of constant annoyance.

Here is a picture of him back when he had a personality.

  • I'm a pee-on-a-stickaholic. I pretty much know I am not pregnant but the .001% chance has me wanting to run to the store to get some. I can't keep any in the house because I will pee on them. Now I sound like a creepo who likes to pee on things.

  • imageDC2London:

This week has just been a string of awful.  I spent all of Monday puking, Tuesday my charming son locked us in his bedroom and the fire department had to come and get us out, Wednesday Jack woke up at 1 a.m. and was up for the day.  Yesterday I found out I had a missed m/c, then my cousin's house in Dexter, MI was hit by not one but TWO tornadoes.  I'm almost afraid of what today has in store and I desperately need this week to be over.

My FFFC is that I am angry about stuff at the moment, and even though I will try not to, I'm pretty sure my aggression is going to be taken out on a couple of people who don't necessarily deserve it.  I have a couple of phone calls to make and I'm afraid that my anger about this week's events has destroyed any patience or courtesy I have in me and someone's going to lose a head, even though they aren't the source of my problems.

Hugs to you hon. You've had one hellavu week. Take it easy & relax if you can. You deserve it.

The Sookie Stackhouse series is pretty graphic and violent, too. The shlock factor in that show is high. Just FF through the sex scenes, it's a pretty good show!

As far as GoT, it's a fairly faithful adaptation of the books, which are high in the graphic sex scenes and violence department. I am glad HBO is doing it--not other network could do it justice, or have the budget to properly produce a quality worthy of the material. Again, you could FF through the sex scenes, because that show is incredible and you don't want to miss out!

Oh, I know, they are pretty true to the books (though I think there's more graphic sex on TB the show than in the books IIRC...I mean, I know there's sex in the books but I don't think it's quite the visual. lol). We did end up FFing through the scenes in GOT. We knew going in there'd be boobies and humping so we were prepared to FF, but DH is very conservative Christian so he's really uncomfortable actually watching it. He did get hooked on the show anyway, though, so we'll be back for season 2 when it comes out on DVD. ;)

  • Yesterday when people were bashing the cliquey mom groups, I got kind of offended.  I belong to a bunch of mom groups.  These are people that I have stuff in common with: we're neighbors, or we go to the same gym, or our kids are in the same preschool class.  I don't exclude anyone who wants to join us, but if I'm in mid conversation with someone else, I don't go out of my way to invite them in either ya know?

  • My FFFC is that I'm pissed at my brother, even though I probably shouldn't be.  DS1 has been sick all week.  He woke up w/ a fever Sunday night and it hasn't gone away since.  He has tonsillitis.  DH and I have been switching back and forth taking days off work, working half days, etc to be at home with him.  My brother is 24 and works as a server right now. He's off today.  I texted him last night to see if he would come sit with DS1 from about 9:30-2:30 for us. I also offered to pay him for it.  He said no b/c he has to work all weekend and last night was his only night to go out and drink and he didn't want to have to wake up early.

I get that my kids are not his responsibility.  I'm not really mad that he's not helping us, I'm just more pissed about his reasoning for not wanting to help.  I know he's young, but we would do anything to help him if he needed it.  Also, he and his girlfriend watched the boys for us on Wed night so we could go out to eat for DH's birthday.  So, I probably REALLY shouldn't be irritated with him, but I still am.

  • I hated TrueBlood, especially the soft porn and the accents, so much that I have not picked up a Sookie Stackhouse book since. I am far from a prude, but that show went so far off the books and made it all about nekid people so much that it pissed me off.

I do not like British shows in general - exception for Gordon Ramsey - but am really liking watching Dr. Who with DH. I am pissed off he doesn't want to watch an episode every night. .

Actually, I'm just pissed and ready for AF to go away so I can get laid. I will be a bitchybitch until I get some.

I blew my nose on my husband's bath towel.

When I was still with my X, he would always guilty me into getting him a glass of water. He drank A LOT of water so it was really annoying to me to have to get it. I would have to go down a flight of stairs and into the garage. When I was 8 months pregnant, I fell in the garage getting him water and factured my ankle.

Anyway, I would take a drink of his water, swish it around in my mouth and spit it back in his cup before I gave it to him.

We watched the first four seasons of Dexter while I BFed Jack in the newborn days.  So my kid has seen plenty of inappropriate television.

We just got Showtime when I went on ML.  I watched all the past seasons of Weeds while pumping/nursing.

DS may or may not have been Jax Teller for Halloween this year.  It may or may not have been epic.

    My kid is totally screwed.

Haha. We got rid of our cable right before I went on ML. It was horrible. I would get sucked in to stupid shows like Dr. Phil but then turn them off because I wouldn't want DS to hear all the yelling.

  • I'm kind of with Lily on the graphicness of GoT on HBO.

I'm down with the book-related sexy stuff, but that scene with Littlefinger and Roz and that other chick wasn't in the books.  The girls were in the room when I watched that scene and I shut it down immediately once I saw what was going on.

Fuuuck you, HBO, for bringing unnecessary sexy stuff into GoT.  It's sexy enough as it is and there isn't enough naked Tyrion.  Fuuuck you.

My FFFC:  My phone died yesterday.  It wasn't a smartphone but it did have a QWERTY keyboard for texting.  I got a loaner phone until my new phone can be delivered.  The loaner is a cheap-ass flip phone with no camera and no QWERTY keyboard.

and I love it.  Like I want to hug it and call it Howard.  It's so so so nice to not have to worry about butt dialing someone.

Speaking of phones, I think iphones, androids, etc are ridiculous. I will be so heartbroken the day that they stop making flip phones for myself and the other non-conformists and old people of this world.

People are far too addicted to their stupid phones and I think it's annoying as hell. I don't like texting or talking on the phone. In fact, I'd really love if we could go back to 1996, when you had a bag phone for emergencies and people actually made small talk instead of constantly scrolling through their mothereffing Facebook pages in public.
