My Gold Ring is Turning my finger black....

So my original wedding set was Gold and at my 2nd anniversary my husband let me buy a white gold set cause i really never wear gold. Well for the 2 years i wore it back then 2000 & 2001 NEVER had my finger turn black. For the last two days i been wearing my gold set cause my other ring is too loose well its been turning BLACK. i have looked online and one thing i found crazy is reading it due to lack of iron. Strangely enough i know i have low iron count thanks to my pregnancy my doctor told me to take EXTRA supplements. I only take the extra supplement 2x a week. UMMMMMM am i really that low? WOW maybe i need to take them daily. Maybe my ring is telling me something.

 HAAHAHAHAHA.

    I had this happen to me once, while I was not pregnant, during my previous marriage.  OUt of nowhere my wedding band mad a black ring around my finger!!! It was disturbing, but it went away and never happened again.

    I would ask your dr to check your levels- I wouldnt count a black finger a s a sign.  JMO

     

    Could it be that your ring has other metals in it ?

    My friend's ring does this when she is low on iron. I had never known about this but it is true. I would get your levels checked, but that is what her doctor told her was a sign.

    when docs advise that you take extra iron, generally they want you to take extra iron EVERY day, and sometimes multiple times per day.  Twice per week won't make much difference.  and make sure you don't eat dairy for 2 hours before or after taking the iron.

    Thanks! yes you are correct i should be taking daily its my fault tho it bothers my stomach some awful.

    Thanks for this post.  While my white gold rings don't turn my finger black, I have had to stop wearing my band and e-ring.  They make my finger so itchy!  My finger is red and irritated and almost scaly.  I see the doc on Tuesday and will definitely bring it up.  Thanks again!

    You probably have mild dermatitis.  Wash and dry your hands well and apply antibiotic ointment to the area a few times a day.  It should clear up pretty soon.  

    I get the same thing from time to time when my hands get damp/slightly swollen at work and I don't give them time to dry out before putting my rings back on.
