3rd Trimester

Impending Labor?

At my last appointment on Friday I was dilated to a 2 and 25% effaced, but spotted A LOT during and after the check.  Over the weekend I lost my mucus plug and Sunday experienced over an hour of contractions that were 10 minutes apart that turned out to be false labor.  I have had no signs/symptoms of labor since aside from some Braxton Hicks contrations.  Has anyone else experienced this?  How much longer will I have to wait!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Re: Impending Labor?

  • Lost my mucus plug over a week and half ago. Been having contractions 2 min apart for 2 weeks. Dilated and 60% effaced since 34 weeks. Unfortunately, it could be hours, days, or a week. Can't predict it, but gl!

  • Sorry, there's no way to know.  It could be any time between now and two weeks from now.  I know it's hard, but stop looking for signs of labor and just try to relax.

  •  we have the same due date and I have had a lot of the same experience. Last weeks appointment on wednesday I was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. 3 days prior to this appointment I had what I thought was bloody show or mucus plug. which ever caused me to bleed for a full 24 hrs. nothing heavy then had dark brown spotting till about a day after the doc appointment. I also had my membranes stripped at that appointment.

So I had bad contractions for 2 days after that and then nothing. Today they have returned a little today but not much happening. I share your frustration.

Baby will come when he's darn well ready!! i guess : / lol!

    Good luck to you!!

  • I think once you reach this point you always think, hope, and look for signs for impending labor. The annoying thing is, most signs of impending labor could still mean you have weeks to go. Losing your mucus plug, being effaced and dilated...nothing can really predict the time you have left unless your water breaks or you're having regular contractions (and speaking from experience, even regular contractions doesn't always mean anything!). I've done so much silly research determined to find something that would say, "Yes! You are going into labor tonight!" The result has been nothing more than that I've completely resigned myself to the fact that I'm most likely going past my due date and that I'm just not going to be able to hold my breath over Baby coming within the next few days.
