So Im begining to think that maybe my body wasnt meant to have a baby(you can read my last post about all the fun its been haha). As of today Im officially 38 weeks pregnant. Last Saturday I started to have contractions which I ignored at first(since my braxton hicks are always a little strong). Well by Monday night the contractions got to be about 3 1/2 to 4 minutes apart and were hurting(which could have been from the 3 days of getting them). I went into the labor and delivery that night and was checked but had only dialated to a 1- which I was of course sent home. The contractions continued throughout the night so I ended up sleeping for maybe 2 or 3 minutes before the next one struck. Tuesday I had my ob apt.. they hooked me up and it showed 2 minute to 2 min 15 sec contractions- when I was checked I had only dialeted to a 2 1/2. The dr. said I was in labor just not active labor and since I was dialating so slow there was nothing they can do(because of hospital policy) until im 39weeks-which is a week away. Since then Ive been keeping as hydrated as possible and resting as much as possible, but with how my body was being the dr. gave me loratabs* to help ease the discomfort and ambien to help me sleep until I can be given (i think it was pitocin) to help my cervix dialate. My sister had a long labor but nothing like this. and dont get me wrong the contractions are not that unbearable but they are painful enough to kick sleep out the window. I was given some pamphlet thing about this that had stupid advice like ~have someone tell you what a good job your doing..or whatever. SO im wondering are there any mommas or mommas to be who are going through the same thing? because if theres a pamplet on it im not the only one.
Re: Anyone else told that they get to be in labor for the next two weeks?
first: if someone said that to me and i was in your situation, i'd probably slap the sh!t out of them.
second: if you tell someone to tell you you are doing a good job, how does that count? that's like telling someone to tell you you're smart.
also, i'd be too scared to take the lortabs/ambien.
I did this with my first baby. I had contractions for 3 weeks before my water finally broke. I was miserable. I spent most nights in a warm bathtub, dozing between contractions. Mine would stop every now and then and I'd get a short break but they always picked back up.
I ended up having contractions for 2 days with my second baby, too. Not quite 3 weeks - but my contractions during those 2 days were much, much more intense.
Hope something happens for you soon! Try a warm bath...seriously. Just live in there.
This happened to me with my first as well. I was in labor from 36 weeks until 39 weeks when I was finally induced. I can't remember how far apart my contractions were but I know I stayed at 2 cm the whole time. But you are doing a good job
and just think their is a light at the end of the tunnel for you now!!! Good luck in the next few weeks.
wow, that really sucks. I'm sorry!
I had prodromal labor for 5 days with my DD, luckily I hit 39 weeks on that last day and went for the pitocin and got her out as I was DONE with labor by then.
Hang in there! It WILL end. I took Ambien too, it's fine.
I totally feel your pain. I have been having random contractions since Monday. Went to labor and deliver Monday evening and they kept me over night. I am dilated to a 4 but since my water has not broken and I am progressing so slowly they sent me home. Had my 35 week appointment today doctor pretty much told me he is ready to come but cannot induce labor until 39 weeks with out a amnio but cannot do a amino till 37 weeks. I plan to do a whole lot of walking and see if I can get labor to be more active. I am so uncomfortable. At ultrasound today he measured to be about 7 lbs and 9 ozs. My first son was induced at 39 weeks and was 8 lbs and 12 ozs.
