Did you do a single emby transfer?

Hi ladies. I was looking to see if you were or weren't successful with a SET and also if you transferred one because your doctor recommended it or if it was a personal decision. I think we will be doing a single. I love the idea of twins, but the reality is a bit too overwhelming.

I transferred one, bc i only had one...and it stuck. After 4 transfers, this is what i believe. Good strong embies tend to stick...unless u have other issues w ur ute ( i do not). Weaker ones don't stick. If u happen to have 2 really good ones, then twins stick. Adding addional embies of great quality, really increases ur risk of mulitiples more than pregnancy.

I have transferred as many as 3, and none stuck...but they weren't great quality. I think the embryo quality should be ur deciding factor. GL.

Ur welcome, and i think it's a good idea to transfer 1 if the quailty is there. I also did NOT want twins. I have a compromised cervix, and am at high risk for pre-e. I feel very lucky w my 1, and didn't have to stress at all about mulitples or them having to rec selective reduction.

IVF#1, I transferred 2 and they both stuck. I lost them to pre-term labor.

IVF#2, I transferred 1 and got a BFN (Dr's and my recommendation)

IVF#3, I transferred 2 and got a BFN (Dr's and my recommendation)

IVF#4, I transferred 1 because I only had one egg retrieved and I'm 29w5d.

I love the idea of twins. I miss my twins but I'm also happy to have one this time and to know that I have a good chance of taking it home from the hospital alive! Single transfers work....don't think that you don't have a chance if you do a single. It's definitely quality over quantity and definitely takes some luck too. The luck comes in because the quality of all my embroys has always been 4AA and I've always done blast transfers on Day 5.

We said we would transfer one stellar blast or two poor quality blasts. With our first cycle, we transferred one "absolutely perfect" embryo due to embryo quality, age, and diagnosis. The cycle failed. With this cycle,we transferred one embryo that was graded somewhere between "good" and "fair" and one embryo that was slow in development and too early to be graded. There really wasn't any discussion about transferring one, as I had a failed cycle under my belt and our embryo quality wasn't so great. Both stuck. If I had to guess, I would say assisted hatching and a smoother transfer made all the difference. So, I don't think our decision to transfer one the firet time had anything to do with our failure. I am a firm believer in single embryo transfers, as my clinic has the same success rates for eSET and 2 BSET. While we are excited to be expecting twins, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pretty freaked out. I say go with your gut and rely on the rec of your RE. He/she has done this plenty of times and has a good idea of the expected outcome. Good luck!

We decided on 1 based on both my doc's rec and our own comfort level. Twins sound great, but the increase in risk (4x that of a singleton pregnancy) didn't seem like such a good idea for us. I'm young (27), and we had 2 perfect blasts, plus 1 fair blast. We wavered on transfer day, fearing failure, but my doctor told me quite plainly that my chances of pregnancy would remain 50% whether I transferred 1 or 2, and that putting 2 back would only increase my chance of twins. It's a terrible decision to have to make, especially when you're paying everything OOP, but transferring 1 was the right way to go. Now we have 2 in the freezer if/when we want to have another. I had been hypothetically recommended eset by my re before my er and fert report. Then the embryologist wanted to do a 3 day transfer and then recommended 2. I really was not comfortable with twins and the stats my clinic showed to me the day of transfer had very similar success rates for 1 or 2 put back in my age group. There was a huge twin rate in the 2 embryo group however. So I stuck to my guns and put back the best looking embie of the bunch (which was out of 6).

On the day of my transfer, the re on duty really did not try to sway us one way or another. The best discussion that we had was with the embryologist, actually. I just hated that this decision was finalized when I was half naked on the table with a very full bladder.

Our little 3 day embie stuck, so I am a day 3 eset success story.

If this is your first ivf, an eset is an appropriate though conservative approach.

We did an eSET for our FET cyle and on the 1st try it was successful (we never made it to transfer w/our fresh cycle). We were highly advised by my RE to only transfer the 1 blastocyst b/c of my age (under 35), the fact that it was a 5 day blastocyst, the quality of blast and the risk of carrying multiples.

We transferred one for our fresh cycle (5 day blast). For my age and history we were not allowed to transfer more than one blast. That cycle was a c/p... We transferred 2 of our frozen embies this time around... Standard protocol again to transfer two on a frozen cycle after a failed fresh.

As a lot of ladies mentioned, it really depends on quality. We had 4 embryos left by the time we got to our 5 day transfer and the embryologist recommended only transferring 1 because of our age, it was our first IVF attempt and that embryo was in his terms "perfect". Had we had sub-par embryos I would've been more likely to transfer 2, but with the quality of that 1 embryo being so good, we didn't want to put the babies and myself at risk if both took.

We did eSET. My RE recommends this when you have a high quality blast. We decided that we would go with whatever our RE recommended.

There's is a 98% chance that we are pregnant with a singleton.

We did 1 blast that wasn't graded "CB"...we only had one from our cancelled cycle in November that made it to freeze...otherwise I would have transferred 2. I was skeptical that this would take because I had only heard others say high quality embryos are what work...but I managed to get my BFP. Good luck!
