Belly Casting - ideas?

I really want to do a belly cast, even if it is just a paper mache` one made at home. I thought it would be fun for my other kids to paint and decorate, a nice keepsake of the last baby bump I will ever have ( we are done after this )...but, what do I do with it afterwards? I don't wanna just pack it away, and I don't really care for the idea of having it displayed on a wall in my home ( where it would probably just get broken eventually anyways!)

Anyone have any creative ideas as far as what I can do with a belly cast?

Re: Belly Casting - ideas?

  • I was just looking into this.  I'm a FTM and DH is crazy excited about getting everything from scrapbooks, to 4D ultrasound DVDs and we're only in our 1st trimester.

I saw some really cute ideas on this site: https://www.proudbody.com/articles.asp?id=162

LOL! I totally knew that using as a dish for some sort of food would come up! A friend suggested a fruit bowl - but she hasn't sen how big my belly is! lol

  • You can definitely make a bowl and use it functionally in the baby's room for storage. It is easy, too, to shape a bowl in such a way that you can hang it on the wall and use it to store stuffed animals, etc. As cute as the food idea is I wouldn't suggest it due to potential toxicity depending on what you use. I would stay clear of paper m?ch? and buy plaster gauze from Michaels. It is what professionals use, is super simple and makes a nicer cast. I have a small belly casting business in Tampa and am always willing to give people free advice on making their own casts. I don't regularly check this forum, but if you have any specific questions or want to see some casts for ideas check out my website-www.mybellybliss.com. You can also email me through there or link to my Facebook page, which is probably the best place to ask specific questions. Good luck.
