Talk to me about low progesterone

I've had some spotting so my doctor has ordered blood work. My first round of bloodwork on Thursday had a progesterone level of 13.2 and then today it was 8.6 so they are calling in a prescription for crinone. I didn't have to do this my first pregnancy and although I get that each pregnancy is different I am confused and scared. Does this mean that there is something wrong with that baby that my body is rejecting it OR is there something wrong with my body?

    My first level was 5.4 which is VERY low and I was spotting so they put my on a progesterone supplement and it is now up to 39 and no more spotting :). Had an ultrasound this morning and all measures well :)

    It could be, or it could be nothing. I started at 9, it dropped to 6.8, I went on Prometrium and went on to have a healthy pregnancy.

    My doctor said it can be hard to determine... Non- viable pregnancies will cause low progesterone, but low progesterone can also lead to miscarriage.  When I found out I was pregnant, I was already spotting, and they tested my progesterone.  It was 6.6.  I started crinone, and it was 12.5 48 hours later.  The bleeding stopped in less than 24 hours.  Everything looks good now, so I am really thankful for the crinone.  Hope you have good luck with it too!
