Target Brand Diapers

I used pampers diapers with my first until he was about a year old. I then switched to the target brand. I swear the target brand are the best diapers! Since I didnt switch him to the target brand until he was one I don't know how well they hold up for those early months when baby is just born.  Tell me your experience with the target brand diapers for babies who are just drinking mommas milk or formula (no solids yet). I want to start stocking up on diapers and not sure if I should go with the target brand.  Just an FYI  was never impressed with the pampers. I felt that my son was always leaking and had alot of blowouts. Thanks!

I, too, use Target diapers now that DS is older. Honestly, I was not impressed with them when he was only bf. I did not think they were as absorbant of the liquid poop (sorry, couldn't think what else to call it!) as Pampers were. He always seemed to blow out of the up & ups. Just my opinion!

  • I tried them and didn't have any blowouts.  DS is EBF.  I thought they were a little plasticky but he didn't seem to care.  I prefer pampers because they are soft and if I find them on sale or have coupons, I buy pampers.  Target and LUVS are my backups.  I actually prefer LUVS over Target a little and the price is similar.
  • Target diapers were the only diaper that would consistently leak on me (literally...I'd feel the pee across my waist while DS was nursing).  After the third time I threw them all out and never looked back.  I didn't care for Pampers either.  I'm a big fan of the Fisher Price diapers and Huggies.

  • Over  the last 4 months I've tried Pampers Swaddlers, Huggies, Kirkland, Luvs and Target brand.  DD seems to do fine in pretty much all of those.  I liked the Target brand and noticed that it's sized fairly generously but the inner ruffle seemed to be not quite as high as some of the other brands.  The small packs are only $6 so it's worth a shot.

  • I started using Target diapers when DS was in a size 2.  They have worked great for us since then.  I used Pampers and Huggies from nb through size 1.  I have not heard good things about Target brand for the infant stage but I would try them for that price and see what you think.

  • We use pampers. I tried Target brand size 1 because so many people swear by them but the smell was horrible. I could smell the diaper from across the room even when they were not wet. I thought it was just me until one day my husband said he thought something was wrong with DS because he smelled, LOL. Switched back to pampers and that weird smell was gone.

  • The only time I used them was when DD was in size 1.  They were awful, IMO.  I know everyone has different opinions of diapers.

  • We used Pampers Swaddlers exclusively until DS was about 9 months old. I then tried the Target brand and really liked them. Now we only buy Target's Up & Up brand or Luvs because they are so much less expensive, and both work well for DS. the Target ones run a bit bigger in size, but I give Luvs a slight edge in absorbency. I personally would not trust the Target ones for exclusively breast-fed babies  in the first few months though. For this next little guy, I will stock up on the Swaddlers again until he's well established on solids!

This may be a dumb FTM question, but why?

  • Because EBF have liquidy poops, sometimes explosive, multiple times a day.  Breastmilk is so easily digestable that it goes right through them.  I used Pampers Swaddlers for 10 months, then switched to Cruisers, he got awful rash and I made switch to Target and never looked back.

  • We tried Target diapers when DD was about 4 months old. I hated them. I changed her immediately the second she peed just so I could get through the box faster and go back to Pampers. I also have friends who swear by them, so I think it will depend on you/your LO.

  • I'm using Target brand diapers on my newborn.  I agree that he doesn't smell as nice as he did when he was in pampers, but you get used to it.    You have to be careful to make sure the little ruffles are outside and don't get trapped on the inside.  They don't seem to be as nice as pampers, but they are half the price.

I mainly breastfeed (he gets a bottle of formula every now and again - I'm talking about no more than 4 oz a week).  I've had two problems with leaks, both were small.  One was out the side of his leg, the other was up his back.

Overall, if money wasn't an issue for us, I'd go with the pampers.  (Those are the only two brands I have tried yet).

Wow, I had no idea!  Thanks for the info.
