Pregnant after 35

I'm exhausted!

I am only 5 weeks but boy oh boy has it hit me. With my first pregnancy(36 yrs old) I didn't have any symptoms till the very end when I blew up from water gain. This time my boobs hurt and I could take a nap at the drop of a hat! Before I got pregnant I was working out 5 days a week, last week only twice:( I'm hoping this does not last long.

Re: I'm exhausted!

  • I hope it gets better! I was nauseous (but no puking) in the very beginning, but the boob soreness and the tiredness started early and now at 17 weeks - both are still going pretty strong. Plus now I can't breathe  - not sure if it's allergies or what! - so I'm not working out because I don't want to pass out, nor do I want to overdo it on the inhaler. But congrats! And welcome to the group :)

  • My boobs were killed me through most of my first trimester. I hope you feel better soon.

  • I hear ya! My 1st (at age 38) I had no symptoms either. It was glorious! I was running and cycling until about halfway thru my pregnancy. This time around, I'm soo tired and my boobs are sore all the time. LOL. I've napped a few times this week -- very unusual for me. I'm 42 now, btw. I haven't worked out in 2 weeks. My original plan was to run a 5k mid-April, but I don't see that as realistic right now. I really don't want to run/walk it if I can help it, so perhaps best to sit this one out. Hope you feel better soon!

  • I think I spent most of the first trimester in bed when not at work...the issue was exacerbated by the havoc our LO was wreaking on my thyroid...but even with medication adjustment I was crashing pretty hard.  I was a 6-day-a-week boxer/kickboxer, and by the second month of pregnancy had to put that on hold (almost passed out in class and stomach unable to handle the boxing gym funk).  I suggest finding some less strenuous exercise routines or just decrease frequency for now - walking will always be your friend.  I hope you get to feeling more like yourself soon.
