3rd Trimester

Suggestions for sleep...

I know that there is only so much you can do in order to get comfortable when you get to this point (3rd trimester), but my hips are hurting.  It's the joint, not RLP.  I sleep on my left side (like you are supposed to) with a pillow behind me, a small pillow between my knees and a curved pillow under my belly.  By the time I get situated in order to go to sleep I'm frustrated from getting everything in place.

We don't have a lazy-boy or a recliner that I can try to sleep in.  Are there any other suggestions??

Re: Suggestions for sleep...

  • All I can say is that I was dealing with this a couple of weeks ago and it's actually a little better now just bc I'm flip flopping often throughout the night.  Also, I can't lay directly on my side, but kind of on my side with my hips at a 45 degree angle with one leg propped over my snoogle pillow.

  • I brought an extra king size blanket to bed with me.  I lady down and then I start stuffing and adjusting. I found it worked better for me than pillows, because I could adjust each area of "stuffing" I need to have a lot of support under my belly, but less between my legs.  I also feel like it "sticks" with me better than the individual pillows, which shifted on me each time I moved.
  • I started sleeping on the couch about a week ago. I sleep with 4 pillows behind me so I'm almost sitting straight up, I have blankets underneath me and on top, plus my body pillow on my side in case I need to lean over. Keeping it dark and very cool helped me the most, I haven't slept this great in 9 months!

  • MIL bought us an amazing mattress pad (hotel collection from Macy's).  It's like 4 inches of softness.  I was having the same hip bone poking sensation but it's gone now.  I'm still not sleeping because of acid reflux and postnasal drip and snoring and DH's snoring and the dog dreaming on the floor next to me...  but at least my hip doesn't hurt anymore!!!

I am going to try that! Thank you!:)

  • I have a body pillow on one side and two regular pillows on the other side when DH is working. (Night shift) When he is home I just flip my body pillow with me. It sucks and still is not enough room since I also need to put my wrists on pillows elevated or they fall asleep in two mins. I am seriously considering an air mattress for dh or i to sleep on. Lol
  • Thank you ALL for your suggestions! They make me feel better!!

I've been trying to sleep on my back/with about 5 pillows behind me (so virtually sitting up).  It has helped and no more hip pain!! YAY!!
