For the first 6 weeks I felt pretty normal other than the occasional cramps, upset tummy (usually from being hungry) and fatigue. This past Monday, the mark of week 7, started the m/s...and then by Wednesday I was throwing up every morning.
Probably tmi...but has anyone else had trouble brushing their teeth? I usually do a quick rinse, have my coffee and then do a regular brush to get the coffee breath out (and this is decaf btw) but most of the time that's what set me off...and BAD. Then I couldn't think about eating until halfway through the morning when I still felt sick but hungry at the same time.
Today...1 day before week 8 I woke up and felt ok so chanced breakfast (panackes)...and so far so good....
On the plus side, 1st appointment is Thursday
Do they take the ultrasound pictures or is it just looking for their own stuff but not sharing images? I've heard some women get the belly ultrasound and others get an internal...ugh.
Re: From feeling symptom-less to ugh
Re: toothbrushing, YES! I find it so hard to brush without gagging. I just try to do it as quickly as possible. Flossing doesn't bother me as much (I use floss picks) so I just try to take more time there. Thinking about starting using some sort of mouthwash, I usually don't but I want to make sure I'm keeping up my dental health since I'm not spending as much time brushing.
And yeah, things didn't really get bad for me until week 7 either, I went from weeks of just queasy to full on gagging and worse.
I remember this happening last time too, but by 11 weeks it was better.
Since you'll be 8 weeks (right?) by Thursday then if they do the u/s it'll most likely be a belly scan - I had that at 8 weeks last time. Some OBs do it as a matter of routine and others don't, I had an early u/s because they couldn't find a heartbeat with the doppler and wanted to check. (it was fine). I think internal u/s is only for really early pregnancy.
Hope you feel better!
I also hate toothbrushing! EW. Definitely makes me gag.
I went in for my first appointment at 8 weeks. She did a vaginal ultrasound after my pap smear. No big deal. You'll get much better images from a vaginal when the baby is so tiny.
This. Each doctor is different, but at 8 weeks, it's so small, so a belly ultrasound won't show you much. I had a transvaginal U/S at my 8 wk 1 day appointment and am so happy because I could see much more clearly.
