Heartbeat on an u/s?

I am 5 weeks today and have my first prenantal checkup on the 19th. I will be 6 weeks 3 days by that point. Would they be able to see the heartbeat on an ultrasound by then? This is my first pregnancy and we are really anxious to tell people but I want to wait until after I see a heartbeat. So whats the earliest you ladies have seen yours?

I was 7 weeks and a couple days for my first u/s and we saw/heard the heartbeat. I don't know about 6 weeks, but I don't think it's impossible...

We saw ours at 6wk4d, but it wasn't a guarantee by any means. So maybe.

Are you 100% sure they'll be doing an u/s at your appointment?

My OB won't do the u/s until at least 8 weeks because the chance of hearing the HB before then is kind of iffy and not hearing one can freak out an already sensitive new mommy-to-be.

With my first, I had a transvaginal u/s at 5w5d. You couldn't hear the heart beat, but you could see it flicker. A little flashing beat. It was pretty cool.

We saw one at 5w6d at 89bpm. It was low, so they had me go back at 7w1d and it was up to 142 bpm.

Before they started my u/s the tech said that they might not see anything so it's not definite.

I dont know that they are but if there is a chance that I can see a hb then Im going to push them to do it. My dr is really good about doing anything they can to make you happy. I know its early to hear it but I would just feel so much better to see that flicker.

That makes me excited. Im gonna ask them to do one and just try to keep in mind that it may be too early. I just really want to see that flicker so I can blab. lol.

With my first, it was 5 weeks 6 days. This one was around 6 weeks 4 days.

I just had my ultrasound at 6w5d, and we saw the heartbeat...it was wonderful!

i read on hear all the time..most of the ladies hear or see a hb in their 6 wk...but if u dont thats normal too. most do hear tho...good luck hun and coongrats

I went to the OB at 5wks 3days because I thought I was having a miscarraige. At that time we could only see the sac. The doctor said if I wanted to come back in a week they would be able to see the heartbeat to help relive my fears. I did not go back because I felt kind of silly and I wanted to wait to see AND hear the heartbeat at the same time. GL!!

with this one we saw the heartbeat at five weeks four days. i would say its possible but not guaranteed.

I went for my first u/s at what I thought was 8wks, but found out while there that I was only 6wks 2 days. We were able to see the flicker of LO's hb and we got a measurement that it was 121! So you may be able to. Big Smile

Thanks everyone. Now I am really excited for this appt and am definately pushing for an u/s. Now I just gotta focus and breaking the news to ours parents. This pregnancy is unexpected so Im really nervous for it. lol.
