Pierced belly button?

Anyone have a pierced belly button? I was looking through some pregnancy pictures on google and all of them make me really scared. haha. I already have my piercing, so I can't really do anything about it. We are TTA right now, until after the wedding, just for reference.

How is yours holding up?

If you have had more than one child, does it kinda go back to normal?

TIA!

Mine makes me look like I have three belly buttons, tbh. It's also like... discolored and funky. When I asked OB if it "looked okay" he said "looks normal. Most people don't realize that their piercings can get really messed up with pregnancy." Ugh. However, I've also been told it should go back to normal... so, here's to hoping. BTW: I don't wear a ring at all anymore.

  • I have mine pierced, I did end up buying a pregnancy ring to put in and I had that in for a couple months than it got so stretched out I had to take it out because it got infected. I am a FTM and I am hoping that after baby I will be able to put it back in.
  • I worked with a lady who said that the skin ripped and she had two flaps, which she cut off....... Indifferent

  • I took mine out several years ago but I still have the hole. I was scared that it would end up looking weird but it really hasn't at all yet. I hope it goes back to normal after the baby, it looks like it will.

  • I had mine pierced for a few years. I took it out about 6 years ago, and there's still a hole. I hate it now that my belly is huge and I could kick myself for doing that when I was 16! The hole looks so weird now :(

Glad I'm not the only one. I really do kick myself for the belly button ring. I too got mine when I was young (about 15) and took it out about four years ago. The hole is still there... and annoying as ever.

  • I took it out when I got pregnant with DS.  I did get a nasty stretch mark from the piercing hole up though.

I never put it back it. It was time for me to let that one go.

  • I took mine out when my belly starting growing.  This was 10 years ago, and I still have the holes there along with scar tissue.  I didn't get stretch marks from the piercing even after 3 pregnancies (two were twin pregnancies and I'm currently 9 months pregnant).  I notice that my skin gets darker there when pregnant, but not really a big deal.  I have known friends who have stretch marks coming from the piercing, but it's not bad.

  • Lurking.... I kept mine in the whole pregnancy and had no problems at all! No stretching, tearing, nothing!! Actually the only time I took it out while pregnant was when I went in for my c-section. 4 months later and it looks completely normal still. Oh and I also kept my regular ring in but they do sell those maternity plastic-y ones in case anyone didn't know. :]

  • I refuse to take mine out unless I have problems, which I haven't yet. I even have a bar in with pink blocks that spell out baby.

  • Mine is terrible. I took mine out when I was about 4 months pg with DS#1. It stretched so bad there...it's the only place on my body I have stretch marks!  After I have this baby and lose some weight, I'll be going to a plastic surgeon to have those stretch marks cut off and tucked back into my belly button. Otherwise, I'm too embarrassed to wear a bikini.  :(

  • I took mine out before I got pregnant with my first.  That was for two reasons- one, that I was getting too old and even so it wasn't popular anymore, and two, it would look really trashy when my belly started growing.

  • I took mine out around 18 weeks-ish when my belly really started growing rapidly, I kept getting it caught on stuff. The scar tissue has stretched out and is this gross purply-red color above my belly button. I can't wait until it goes back to normal!

  • I took mine out 6 or 7 years ago, and it looks ok so far.  There are some red spots around it, but they're not looking like stretch marks.

  • I took my ring out when I started showing because my belly pressed the ring up against my shirts and looked funny. Now I have a big ugly stretch mark right over the hole, the only stretch mark that I have!! :(
  • Haha, I wish I could go back and warn 17-year old me. :) I had one .. I say had, bc the image of putting a ring back in it makes me laugh. After my first, mine got so stretched and discolored and never looked the same. I had zero stretch marks and never carried big; in fact, if I didn't have the piercing, I think my tummy would have looked exactly the same as pre-pregnancy. That piercing never went back to normal. Oh well, small price to pay! :)

  • I took mine out years ago during my second pregnancy and I haven't put it back.  The hole isn't bad, but I do have a scar where I pierced it myself at 14 and it did not heal correctly - my body pushed the piercing out.  I had it redone by a pro when I was 18, but I was kinda over it by the time I was pregnant with my second at 20.  Now it's 12 years later and there's still holes for it to go in and out, but the skin reattached a tiny bit inside the piercing.

  • I took mine out when I found out I was pregnant. It is super stretched out and looks like I have three navels instead of one. It is also bright purple from being so stretched out.
  • I'm a FTM so I don't know how it will look after baby, but right now it looks pretty much the same except for the fact that I can see the top hole AND the bottom hole since my belly button is getting pretty flat. It actually doesn't look that weird though. The holes aren't stretched out or anything (yet) so I'm assuming it will go back to normal after baby is born!

  • I had mine in for DS and got a maternity barbel. It went back to normal after having him. I'm doing the same for this one as well.

I think it's all about what type of belly button you had to start with. I had a deep button with a decent flap. I'd imagine those with a rather flat belly button would have the most issues.

  • I used a maternity ring during my pregnancy(long, bendy plastic ring). Mine looks totally normal now and it looked fine while I was pregnant. I haven't had any issues but I know that isn't the case for everyone.

  • I have two kids and mine looked fine after. This is my 3rd and I got a maternity ring, but I'm afraid that it's gonna rip out or something.
