tampons are not for a medical condition. Contact solution treats your eyes (health condition) and bandaids treat injuries.

As does BCP. Imagine if it were outlawed, I'd be anxious as sh!t every month if I didn't take BCP.

I would've spent at least 3 days out of every month for 10 years huddled in my bed crying from the pain.

As someone experiencing my third non-BCP period in 12 years, I definitely think that BCP does more for my health than just keep me from getting KU. I am actually considering getting KU again just to get another 12-18 months off from AF. For realz. Owwwwwww.

If it is to be (legally) a religious organization, its primary purpose must be religion.

Really, what we have here is religious organizations (ex: the Church) overstepping bounds into the business and educational world where the primary purpose is NOT religion. When the primary purpose is not religion, then we get into the murky area we are currently debating with the BC part of the healthcare mandate: that is, whether an organization that is a business (like a Catholic hospital) or a school still gets to legally call itself a religious organization legally and get to retain First Amendment protection.

Ok in all seriousness...I think it is a war on women. I feel like it boils down to the way of thinking that I am not educated or intelligent enough to make my own decisions, so you must legislate my body.

I think the big problem is that a majority of republicans are incredibly religious. Not saying other parties aren't - but that it preys on the religion aspect and their "values" closely align with major religions.

My main problem is that there is a seperation of church and state - if you feel that there is a reason to regulate/legislate something, give me a reason other than that some invisible guy in the sky tells you that its not OK. Just back it up with something that isn't bible based. We do not all follow religion...and that is our right as a citizen of this country. I should not have to live by your sets of rules/values/morals just becuase your invisible man says you should.

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself very religious. But I still reserve the right to make decisions that are best for my family, and not because my God tells me what to do.

Insurance companies do not cover it because they have not traditionally covered preventive care, and we would all agree that BCP fall into that category. Most insurance companies don't even cover physicals (excepting well-child up until a certain age of the child).

It's not a silly argument that men's reproductive needs are attended to while women's have not.

I really don't care about Viagara specifically.

For the purposes of the OP's question, I don't think it is silly. If some insurance companies cover Viagra for medical reasons, then IMO, BC should also be covered for medical reasons (and non-medical too, but whatever). It's the whole notion that the Republicans have no issues with covering medicine that allows men to get it up and have sex, yet women who want to have sex but not procreate are labeled "sluts". That's total BS.

The real issue everyone should be focusing on is the economy, but since none of these asshoIes have the slightest fuckings as to what we should do to fix it, they are trying to win votes by pulling in the religious zealots.

These people don't care about our country, or even our unborn children - they care about money and power. And they are proving that they will go to unthinkable measures to attain it.
The people they are playing to truly believe that America is a sinking ship because we've "lost our way", but the truth is, their completely whacked out "moral" agenda is going to sink us into oblivion. I'm very concerned about the state of politics.
I don't believe that there's a "war on women" in this country, but I agree totally with the middle two paragraphs. It should be about the economy and not about the social/moral issues that draw the far right in. But the primary process is all about proving how liberal or conservative you are to get your party's nomination, and then once you're the nominee, it's all about proving how moderate you are to win the presidency. It's a huge flaw in the 2-party system. But then I'm a libertarian so what the hell do I know?

We decided to not have anymore children due to my health actually. I got Essure and :gasp: paid for it OOP. I wasn't whining over it. That's life.
