Boating during pregnancy

DH and I have a pontoon boat that we spend most of our summers on at the lake, but I have heard from other friends who have had babies that their doctors have told them not to go on small boats like that. Have any of you heard this or have still gone on a boat during your pregnancy?

Hmmmm...I've never heard of boating being an issue.

Small boats are, however, more prone to make you seasick so if you're already having any m/s it might not be a fun trip for you!

We have a boat as well and I will be in my 2nd trimester for most of the summer. I did some research that says for a healthy women avoid it during the 1st trimester and towards the end and that bigger boats are better because they don't bounce around as much, and avoid open ocean, stick with calm waters. Anyway, I think I will end up passing on boating this summer because there are too many variables I don't feel like I can control

I think the reasoning might have been the bouncing that some boats do when going over rough waters, but a pontoon boat hardly ever bounces so that's why I was wondering if could be ok.

When I was preg with LO we were going to lake of ozarks when I was 20 weeks and my OB said absolutely not on a boat on the lake. That lake is really busy and the water gets really rough. When you are going fast you really bounce up and down hard. Since I had history of m/c he said not to risk it.

I did it at about 20 weeks on Lake Huron on a small fishing boat. OB knew I was going; never said anything. My FIL was driving and he was careful to go pretty slow when the water got choppy. I never even thought about it.

I run a sea scout program (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts on water). During my first pregnancy, I took our kids on a 10 cruise at 9 weeks pregnant in a 32 foot boat. My OB knew and had given her consent. I continued to cruise with our ship and fly to get to scouts until I was a month from my due date. Then she said no more. This time, our cruise will occur when I'm almost 8 months. Just ask. My OB was pretty relaxed about most stuff which we checked during our initial meeting. I'd skip the water skiing, but I was great with the boating.
