How Popular is Scarlett Really?

DH and I were really into the name Scarlett until we started seeing it on popular name lists and hearing about more and more babies with this name...do you ladies know of a lot of little Scarletts out there? Any thoughts on whether our Scarlett could be Scarlett #3 in her Kindergarten class?

Our other top names are Seraphine and Evangeline.

I know lots of babies and not one Scarlett. I do know a Scarlett who is my age, but she is the only one.

I love Evangeline as well. Not so much a fan of Seraphine.

My DS is in preschool and both of my kids have taken quite a few tot/preschool classes over the past 3 years. I have never run into it. I'm guessing it's not hugely popular (yet) in my area, unlike the Braden/Caden/Jaden trend which is pretty big here.

I was wondering the same thing. Scarlett is on my list, but I too noticed it was on alot of the popular lists..looking forward to the SS list coming out in May!

I don't think it is crazy popular yet, but I do think it is headed that way. Scarlett was the name we picked if Jericho had been a girl

Evangeline is also on our list!

This board makes me believe that there are a ton.But IRL, I haven't seen any at LO's daycare (0-5). Now Rileigh/McKenna/Ella OTOH...

This name throws me for a loop as well. I HEAR how popular it is and it's always appearing on popular lists... however I have worked with kids at all different ages for 7 years now and have never run into one. It's my favorite by far on your list BTW. I say, do it!

I adore Scarlett. It's one of my all-time favorite names ever.

It's getting more popular, that's true. But it's a FAR shot from making your daughter "Scarlett #3."

I only personally know of one baby Scarlet (spelled---lamely---like this); she was just baptised in our church a couple weeks ago.

Seraphine and Evangeline are less popular (especially Seraphine), but I like Scarlett lots more.

If you want to know how popular Scarlett really is, check out the SSA name list and also how many there are in your state. That's the most objective information out there.

FWIW, I like Seraphine a lot more than Scarlett.

Scarlett is one of our top girl names, and I don't know a single one in real life.

I know one IRL. She's probably 12 or so now.I think it's safe to use it without her being Scarlett #3. Though I do love Seraphine too!

I think it is one of those that is more popular as people wanting to use the name - but I think a lot decide not to. I think it belongs in that stylish vs. popular list that was posted yesterday - it is stylish, not popular, even though we hear it a lot. People fantasize about it, perhaps? It might just be popular on here too. Anyhow, it's a nice name, use it! Though, honestly, I do really like Seraphine too!!

I was surprised (not offended) to hear you thought its lame.. I was thinking in same vain as Violet I love the color, dh loves song Scarlet Begonia, and I sort of wanted to stay away with the heavy GWTW very southern association with it.

Obvi not trying to change your opinion just didn't occur to me people would think I was trying to be youniq or crazy creative... Smile

I love the name Scarlett! Reminds me of the very flawed heroine Scarlett O'Hara but eventually saves the day! A strong name without a doubt!

I named my daughter Scarlet Anne Monroe (2 middle names) last July. I have since met 2 Scarlet's in my area (Monterey, California), and 2 more in my hometown in New York. Up until I named her, I had not met anyone with that name.
