MN for Fiona?

First off, does Fiona automatically make you think of Shrek?

And second, any good middle names for Fiona? Fiona Kate is the only one I can think of. I prefer short, either one syllable or two, middle names.

Thanks!!

Baby BOY is due May 23, 2014!

Re: MN for Fiona?

  • Fiona is currently my favorite girl name.  It does make me think of Shrek, but I only saw the first Shrek so I think of the pretty Fiona!  I think a lot of people have this association but personally it doesn't bother me.  It also makes me think of the character from Shameless, who is beautiful so that balances out the ugly Shrek association.

Middle names I like with Fiona:

Fiona Ruby (i am currently not PG but if I were this would be my girl name)

    Fiona Violet

    Fiona Mae

    Fiona Grace

    Fiona Jane

    Fiona Claire

    Fiona Leigh

    Fiona Mary

    Fiona Lily

    Fiona Rose

    Fiona Jean

    Fiona Nicole

  • Fiona is on my list, and I love the name Celeste.  I think "Fiona Celeste" sounds good. Or "Fiona Corinne".  Hmmm, wonder where I'm getting these...LOL.

  • Yes, Fiona makes me think of a green ogre.

My nephew would have been Fiona Nicole if he was a girl.

  • I like the name Fiona, when I hear the name Fiona I think of Shrek unless someone is talking about a specific Fiona and then I would think of the girl/woman they were talking about. (When my cousin talks about her niece I think of her niece, not the movie)

As PP said, I like Fiona Grace. I know it's long but I actually like Fiona Elizabeth...way more than one syllable but pretty.

  • We're leaning towards Fiona Simone or Fiona Piper.

  • I would like to say that this thread has convinced me not to go with the name "Fiona."  I was starting to hear it more and more, and I see it a lot on here now, so I wasn't sure how I felt about the popularity.  And the whole ogre thing bothered me. This kind of made up my mind...LOL. :-)

  • Fiona is NMS, but it's a perfectly legitimate name and a lot of people here like it.

There's a poster here with a DD named Fiona Clairie (family surname); the first several times I saw it, I thought it was Fiona Claire. I think that sounds nice.

  • I do think of Shrek when I hear the name Fiona, but I wouldn't let that stop me from using it. It's a great name that has been around a long, long time, and will continue to be a great name long, long after Shrek has been forgotten.

Of the middle names suggested so far, Fiona Claire is my favorite. Good luck!

  • My girlfriend's daughter is Fiona Eileen (last name is one syllable).  I love it (and I thought of Apple instead of Shrek when I first heard it)!

    Anyway, I like...

    Fiona Jane

    Fiona Catherine

    Fiona Leigh

    Fiona Mae
