1st Trimester

When are you moving to 2nd Tri?

When does 2nd Tri start? 12, 13 or 14 weeks. I always thought 13w4d, but TB says 14w, and a Calcualtor I did online said 12w. Granted I wanna use 12w anyway becuase Im only going until 37w, so there is no point pretending Im going to 40. :)

Re: When are you moving to 2nd Tri?

  • I went by months, not weeks. At 3 months, I moved over to 2nd tri. Go by your due date and count back.

The week thing seems to trip people up. A month is not 12 weeks. Well, only Feb is. So, just go by your due date and you will be accurate.

  • Oh, curses, you're right.  I don't know why I was thinking 12 weeks was my safety zone.  Arrrrrgh.

  • You're considered "full term" at 36-37 weeks, so technically, you could move into 2nd tri at 12w, or 12w 1d, if that makes you feel better.

  • The correct answer is 13w3d, however, a lot of women prefer to use 12 weeks as their unofficial start to the second tri. It's when a lot of couples reveal their baby news, and when a lot of the 1st tri symptoms are pretty much over.

I say 13 weeks, but I lurk and occasionally post on all the boards.

  • I lurk their occasionally.  I would be 18 weeks tomorrow if I didn't miscarry.  So 1st trimester is old news.  I will move over at probably 12 weeks.
